General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsOK, I'm going there. Anyone else ponder this thought about the attacks on our president?
I think the whole thing stinks of another Russian propaganda coup. Our security agencies need to shut the orc propagandists down, stat.
We are starting to see proof of the Ruzzian meddling again:

(9,354 posts)is almost as susceptible to propoganda as MAGA. They want a "horse race" becaause it's good for clicks/ratings/sales.
I admit the actual politicians worry me. I sent a letter to my Senator this morning - very polite, but very clear than I think he's wrong. And this is Michael Bennet, who has a great record. I'm disappointed and angry, but, as I say, I was polite.

(5,125 posts)Hillary in a similar fashion and she lost the electoral college vote. Now the same type of scream machine is attacking Biden. No doubt in my mind. We have moles, with Kremlin encouragement, somewhere in our system, that are able to manipulate the media into a frenzy against those who Putin doesn't like.

I just want to know why internet postings that originate in russia cant be stopped here?

(9,354 posts)but even if they were, thre are such things as VPNs.
Trey Crowder - the "Liberal Redneck" - one of his sponsors is a VPN provider which he says can make it appear he is in any country - and get him past blockers to see whatever from anywhere. And that is exactly the kind of thing Russia is really good at.

(2,438 posts)I think those dems would turn R, and the media would parrot what it was told. They'd both still get their attention and money.

(56,198 posts)If Biden had literally collapsed or had a stroke on stage, all this discussion would make sense.
But he stood the entire time, made cogent point after point, was responsible and engaged, and the worst of it was he sounded what, a little tired, had a cold?
To make this out to be something that should disqualify him from the nomination even after he won nearly all the delegates just a few months ago?
This shit does not happen organically.

(106,209 posts)It does look rather laughable, and makes the site look embarrassing. This month, it's the problematic debate behaviour, which the whole world looked at and said "wow" about at once, and saying "this is a Russian plot" is the kind of thing that used to belong in the Creative Speculation group.

(10,969 posts)Since the current political ruckus mainly centers on party donors, some of our own representatives, and various media figures with major newspapers and networks, it would seem the implication must be Russia is influencing them in some way.
I see people have been informally drawing up their own lists, but I say we centralize it. Maybe form a group of people to organize it so we're on the same page. A kind of committee, even.
We need to be efficient about these things.

(3,285 posts)If we're correct in saying "every accusation is a confession", I think we'd all agree it's more likely a Global Fascist Cabal working together to subvert democracy. If the US fails, a lot of European social democratic states won't be far behind.
The wealth and power of some of these people knows no bounds and isn't confined to a single country. It's possible the goals of the governments of Russia, China, and Saudi Arabia line up well with ultrarich asshats like Musk and others with his wealth.
Add in the huge tax cuts to the wealthy that are expiring and it's a no-brainer they're working together.

(169,749 posts)Go look up HISTORY of "those Democratic lawmakers" and their past myriad of complaints against the administration.
You will find a little group who have been protesting the administration's I/P policy and support for Israel (bent into support for Netanyahu)
You will find some who were pissed off at the administration's handling of J6 (e.g., DOJ - see Schiff)
You will find some who were jockeying for attention way back in 2022 - https://apnews.com/article/biden-new-york-manhattan-elections-carolyn-maloney-b1869cf148f5af5690f3d3e03099451f
and on and on.
When you know there is already a disaffected group, it's easy to stir the pot through whispers and rumors and innuendos.
Remember it's like herding cats and it has been remarkable the past 3.5 years with the unity. But that was only going to last for some brief period.

Our party divisions might be the result of some Dems believing all the hype, but it might be corporate hype as much as Russian hype.
We'll have to leave it to counterintel work, and intel agencies, to find out. And just because they know and show 'duty to warn', they can't go out and issue warrants and set up investigations.
