Rep. Blumenauer (OR) becomes latest Dem to ask Biden to withdraw from the race

https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/07/10/congress/blumenauer-biden-drop-out-reelection-house-democrats-00167452

Rep. Earl Blumenauer became the ninth House Democrat to call for President Joe Biden to drop his bid for reelection.

“While this is a decision for the president and the first lady, I hope they will come to the conclusion that I and others have: President Biden should not be the Democratic presidential nominee," he said in a statement.

Rich white guy who lives in a bubble tells us who to choose. FU Blumenauer. It has been reported that the majority of his investments are in gas and oil.

Anyone with something to say needs to say it now so we can quickly settle this. The back and forth with Joe saying he's in and Democrats contradicting him is not a good look.

He stood out as a solid, reliably progressive representative before it was "fashionable", and now as he goes into retirement this useless declaration will be tied to his otherwise shiny legacy.

But I don't see any reasonable plan as to how Biden dropping out would defeat Trump in the general.

They know it might be a shitstorm, and there's the old "strike at the king, best not miss" scenario they would have to consider, should Biden win the election. Maybe they have a way forward in mind but are unable to show that right now, I don't know.

Wouldn't be the first time he said something iconoclastic. After moving to a different district, I still retain a lot of respect for him and try to pay attention when he does something high-profile.

At this rate by end of next week, more will be asking him top drop out, maybe even some who supported him staying in..

I fear there is something going on here.. Is Biden worst then he we know? Is there something about his health they know, the voters don't? The whole thing is so so fucked up IMO.. Someone better get in front of this, get a ahold of it one way or another and soon..

My fear is Schumer and Jeffries won't and this will just continue to snowball.
