(53,540 posts)I don't see the bright side to any of this. We already have a ticket and it is a good ticket. Kamala in 2028 may be a viable presidential candidate, but I don't think she has prepared for this possibility right now.
Meanwhile, who are the people from the campaign talking to the media?

(53,540 posts)but few are all that ready especially if they have only a few months to prepare before an election. I don't think she or any of her staff saw this coming in the summer before the election.

(20,906 posts)Harris, but nationally she simply WILL NOT WIN! That really sucks and isn't fair, but it's the reality that must be faced. It's infuriating that, yet once AGAIN, our party has fallen right into an obvious RW trap!

(5,103 posts)You can't envision all the Biden voters in her camp PLUS every Never Trumper?
I don't see how she can lose as the first woman president running for what amounts to an immediate ratifying election.

(55,808 posts)There was some mention that I read somewhere, likely Xitter, that she'd make a great AG so maybe we'd have a different ticket. This has been a line of inquiry led by a couple of think tank types in DC Dem circles, but don't worry about this report. Joe is old, it's a campaign, something might happen to him. We would be remiss if we didn't know, instantly, what sort of numbers VP Harris could put up against Trump. Now is the time to know, just in case. You don't under prepare. You know everything. It's your responsibility.

If he stays in, we've still got her. The 2 for 1 special. And she's a former prosecutor, a former CA Attorney General and a senator.

(18 posts)It would be a neglect of their duty to America for a campaign to not look into, stress test, and plan for every contingency, including this.
Even if he's as healthy as a 20 year old Olympic athlete, POTUS could get struck by a falling tree branch tomorrow...things happens, as they say.
Frankly, EVERY administration should be in a constant state of "assessing the viability of VPOTUS" to take over at any point in time, and be ready to go, whether it be due to tragedy, health, scandal, or "other." JFK to LBJ showed us that the VP's only purpose is to take the reins, if necessary...we've just come to think of it as the spot where the next candidate builds their resume, more or less.
I don't think this is necessarily cause for concern, just a very badly timed leak that coincidentally happens in the midst of the current "crisis."
It's quite likely a mundane truth, being reported as political intrigue.

Biden should also campaign with his excellent qualified Cabinet members.
When you elect a President, you get the President AND a team. Assess the team and how they work and support America's best interests. Are they qualified? Are they competent? Are they vindictive? Are they racist? Are they corrupt? Are they serving just the President? Are they members/authors of a guide to fascism determined to take away rights and institute a loyalty to Trump over country test for all government workers?
Harris is already second in command should Biden have needed her to step in. This term is no different.
By the way, who is Trump's VP should Trump, after pardoning himself for past and future crimes, stroke out or decide he needs more executive time and/or golf vacations longer and more frequent than the 5 day weekends he took his last term?

(761 posts)Didn't want to get caught up in the emotion one way or another. But let me ask you this, community: if Harris is determined to be significantly more viable against Trump, should we not want Joe to embrace that change? If what he says is true, and beating Trump is all that matters (which I believe it to be and I believe him when he says it) he may get out and release his delegates, or instruct them to back VP Harris. I'll support Joe but I'll gladly and enthusiastically support Harris if she is the nominee too.
