Just saw a story on Politico about a Biden interview

That was edited at the request of the campaign before it aired. Seems like a bit of a non-story but maybe an unforced error in any event? Here are the excerpts that were removed prior to airing:

WAUK removed a portion from the interview in which Biden said “and in addition to that, I have more Blacks in my administration than any other president, all other presidents combined, and in major positions, cabinet positions.” Host Earl Ingram had asked Biden about what’s at stake for Black voters in the election.

The station also cut a second sentence from Biden, when he was referring to former President Donald Trump’s 1989 call for the death penalty for the since-exonerated Central Park Five. “I don’t know if they even call for their hanging or not, but he — but they said that he was convicted of murder. There isn’t. He won’t even acknowledge that,” Biden said.

Not familiar with Civics Media but they fired one of the hosts for violating journalistic standards.

I know when big name politicians agree to an interview there is usually an agreement about the scope of the questions. The Biden campaign feeding exact questions seems a little beyond that, but I would like to know how unprecedented/unusual that is. Ditto for this.

The story makes it sound unusual—seems like that’s why they fired the one host.

but it's not unusual for other types of interviewees. The questions are often provided in advance and there are often agreed-upon parameters.
