Curious what you think.
I would like to see more strategic appearances by Kamala in all these days.
I think it's safe to say that Joe Biden has been making lots of public appearances - to reassure voters that he's got what it takes. And if you view him with a half degree of objectivity, not the biased view the media seems to promote, I think you'd have to say he's done very well. I love that CNN clip where CNN is so surprised that two undecided voters decide to back Biden after his press conference.
This cartoon was posted earlier about the inequities in the situation of "news" reporting, which is mostly just scandal raking and lurid, biased propaganda.

But Kamala, I have not seen a similar amount or kind of appearances. And that could be because I'm not paying good enough attention. But I'd like it if the average person didn't even have to pay a good amount of attention to this.
I believe it would benefit everyone to know and to see that she is a kind of co-equal part of the administration, something like Biden himself was to Obama. Their friendship and closeness was palpable and responsible for a lot of Joe Biden's popularity today.
Am I wrong? Wouldn't it be great for everybody, including President Biden, to get more of a sense of this backup plan, of two for the price of one?
I know that I'd like it. I have every confidence in Kamala and she looks great to those of us who care on paper, but shouldn't it be made more increasingly self-evident? Not to position her as some competing person just outside the door, but as a trusted ally who COULD take over with great vigor and all of our confidence should the times dictate it.

Kamala.

DU has a problem and it's not always GOP-related.

(81,266 posts)She needs to be seen like this much more.
BumRushDaShow
(169,754 posts)and people have posted about her "reproductive rights" tour. This was from last month -
She was JUST in North Carolina YESTERDAY stumping.
The "local" media covered it but the co-opted AI yellow journalism media refused -
Vice President Kamala Harris speaks of 'existential' stakes for election at Greensboro campaign stop
But because she is a n***er and Joe is a n***er-lover, it won't be covered.
I am so sick and tired of the shit.

(81,266 posts)And yes we know why.

(169,754 posts)when she already IS.
And her husband Doug Emhoff is ALSO out there on the campaign trail and unfortunately caught COVID along the way - https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143267839
And from the above OP is this -
But it's never "enough". Just like Biden doing 20 appearances this past week was "not enough".
Biden is actually being treated like how black folk are treated every goddam day. LITERALLY.

(81,266 posts)The media bashes Joe and doesn't cover Kamala and Doug.
Sounds like the powers that be have made some decisions.
BumRushDaShow
(169,754 posts)But when some of us post about her appearances, COMPLETE WITH VIDEO, it gets a yawn from DU.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/10143269821
Here - watch this (she gave a keynote address on Wednesday, to a conference attended by 20,000 black college-educated women from around the nation, who support the Democratic party)-
I am going to say this right now. The media doesn't give a SHIT about a Black/Asian woman. They don't. But they want to USE her in a racist attempt to drive a wedge in the Democratic coalition and some people are falling for that okie-doke bullshit. The SAME applies to the invocation of both Barack and Michelle Obama's name continuously as if they have some kind of godly power.

(169,754 posts)including one where she dropped an f-bomb.
But there is a narrative out there that she is basically sitting on her ass doing nothing and not campaigning where the reality is, she has been traveling around the world to summits representing the United States, for example at the Munich Security Conference this past February -
AND she has been campaigning.
I posted the below upthread as reply to another poster -

REPEAT
"60 appearances in 20 states" this year alone.
Yet parts of your OP assert this -

But Kamala, I have not seen a similar amount or kind of appearances. And that could be because I'm not paying good enough attention. But I'd like it if the average person didn't even have to pay a good amount of attention to this.
WE (Democrats) don't control the media but EVERY APPEARANCE is captured at the Whitehouse.gov site and their YouTube channel if you want to "see" it because the U.S. media damn sure is going to censor it.

(169,754 posts)BUT... ALL of her appearances have been covered by the local news outlets where she appears so at least those who live in those cities will have access to coverage of her visits (many in swing states).
From what I heard earlier this spring, George Soros (yes that guy) has supposedly purchased (or is in the process of doing so), the "Audacy" network of stations -

George Soros Fund Buys $400 Million Stake In 227 US Radio Stations Going Into 2024 Election

Billionaire hedge fund manager George Soros has been the target of controversy recently after a recent move to become a controlling shareholder in the second-largest owner of radio stations in the U.S.
This isn't the first media brand Soros has bought a substantial stake in, but it worries some people going into the 2024 election. Last year, Soros bought a substantial stake in Vice Media Group. Vice was once worth nearly $6 billion, but Soros bought a stake in the company for pennies on the dollar following its surprise bankruptcy in 2023. The deal valued Vice at roughly $350 million with Soros owning an undisclosed stake in the company.
Audacy, the No. 2 U.S. radio broadcaster behind iHeartMedia, recently filed for bankruptcy. The company owns 227 major radio stations in 27 states and 45 cities across the U.S. These include some of the biggest channels in New York; Memphis and Chattanooga, Tennessee; Denver; Washington D.C., Miami and Orlando, Florida; Atlanta; Baltimore, Maryland; Wichita, Kansas; Austin, Dallas and Houston, Texas; Richmond, Virginia; and many major cities across California as well as several other prominent markets across the U.S.
(snip)
Some have voiced concerns about this purchase going into the 2024 election. Soros is a well-known political advocate for left-leaning politicians and is often one of the largest donors to such politicians in countries around the world. Soros donated over $140 million to political causes in 2021 and $170 million to the 2022 mid-term elections.

I have an Audacy (CBS-affiliate) all-news station that I listen to here in Philadelphia and haven't heard any significant changes yet (although they did do a switch of who they get weather from - back to Accuweather versus using theeir corresponding TV station's meteorologists).

(2,286 posts)But at the same time, as a Democratic Party, we should be identifying new, young and progressive talent to build a base of strong leaders for the future.
We need to be thinking 2 generations into the future, not just the next election cycle.

(2,286 posts)What specifically is there about my statement that is misinformed? Whats wrong about continuing to focus multiple election cycles and generations ahead?
And please do remind me of the specific outcome from 2022 that you are referring to?

(169,754 posts)Here is what happened before and after the 2022 election (note the below highlighted group, all of whom are currently OLDER THAN Joe Biden) -
Post-2018 Democratic leadership (when Democrats regained the House after 8 years)
Speaker - Nancy Pelosi (now age 84)
Majority Leader - Steny Hoyer (now age 85)
Majority Whip - Jim Clyburn (will be age 84 in 2 weeks)
Democratic Assistant Leader - Ben Ray Luján (now age 52)
Democratic Caucus Chair - Hakeem Jeffries (will be 54 next month)
Democratic Caucus Vice Chair - Katherine Clark (will be age 61 next week)
DCCC Chair - Cheryl Lea Bustos (will be age 63 this October)
DPCC Chair - David Cicilline (will be age 63 next week but resigned from Congress last year)
DPCC Co-Chairs - Ted Lieu (now age 55), Debbie Dingell (will be 71 in November), Matt Cartwright (now age 63)
Junior Caucus Representative - Jamie Raskin (will be age 62 this year)
Freshman Class Representatives - Katie Hill (will be age 47 in August), Joe Neguse (now age 40)
Post-2022 Democratic leadership
Minority Leader - Hakeem Jeffries (will be 54 next month)
Assistant Leader - James Clyburn (will be age 84 in 2 weeks)
Minority Whip - Katherine Clark (will be age 61 next week)
Democratic Caucus Chair - Pete Aguilar (now age 45)
Democratic Caucus Vice Chair - Ted Lieu (now age 55)
There was quite a bit of a fuss during those 4 years between 2018 and 2022 reflective of what you are talking about and what I am saying is that CHANGE has been happening. The party has a number of young whipper snapper brilliant minds who have come in and are learning the ropes so they can move into those leadership positions (and that includes building seniority in the Committees to eventually become "Chair" if Democrats control the House or "Ranking Members", when we don't).
The Millennials and GenZs (those who are eligible to run - the oldest GenZs are 27) are being nurtured in state legislatures (see Justin Jones and Justin Pearson in TN) and some of those younger generations like Summer Lee (age 36) and even GA Senator Jon Ossoff (age 37), not to forget Alexandria Ocasio-Corte who is 34, have broken through into federal office.
