What is in it for those calling for Biden to step aside?

They have their reasons and I won’t criticize them for voicing their opinion, but why weren’t they doing this before now that we are in the last few months of the election? I’m guessing that they want to be in the news? Right now is a little late for that! Biden is in it to win and we need to be ready to support and vote for him! And if Biden can’t fulfill his term? VP Harris is ready to take over! But I know we to stop the pandering, the outcome we would have is the absolute tragedy with Trump back in office!

So, to those who want a change on ticket? Suck it up and shut up! Now is not the time or place for antics! We must be one voice and reelected Biden, period!

1. I can only speculate, but my guess is that they're responding to pressure from wealthy donors.

Some donors play both sides of the street, and give to candidates of both parties. Such donors may donate not out of idealism, but to further their own interests. It may be that they do not see Biden's re-election as being in their own interests.

Novogratz is a mega donor. He owns a bitcoin company. He seems to be playing "both sides" this cycle. Donating to Mike Johnson's speaker opponent. Also Dean Phillips. Met with Ted Cruz on Jun 18.

The Steins donate about $30,000 a cycle

The other couple donate less.

Think. Again.

...they are probably playing both sides of the street and donating to the rightwing also.

Which makes this entire circus meaningless, and damaging, when a voter is trying to decide which candidate is actually the better choice.

Yes, the media does want as tight a race as possible for their own interests, but big donors are also muddyng up the electorate's ability to choose correctly with their self-centeredness too.

Publicity, they get airtime on all the news shows. Plus, everyone praises them for "putting country before party". The default setting is Biden is too old and forgetful to do his job, and anyone who disagrees is delusional. If anyone publicly supports President Biden, almost immediately there are claims they are saying he must go in private.

NEW -- A source tells me a group of NY donors have committed $2M to HMP, the House Dem super PAC, to help the Dems who came out early against/criticizing Biden -- Angie Craig, Marie Glusenkamp Perez, Jared Golden and Pat Ryan

Donors include
@novogratz
, Nancy and Andrew Jarecki, Gideon and Zoe Stein and 30+ other donors.

Mike Novogratz is a multibillionaire. He owns a bitcoin company. On twitter he's being a total a__.

Gideon Stein is also a billionaire.

Andrew Jarecki is a trust-baby film producer.

I checked their donation histories.

Novogratz is a mega-donor. (He's even founded several super PACs). I think he's the ring leader of this. He donated to Dean Phillips last fall. He also donated to a Republican who ran against Mike Johnson for House Speaker. (Emmer of MN)
He also met with Ted Cruz on June 19th.

The Steins donate about $30,000 per cycle.

The Jareckis' donated about $30,000 in 2018, but hardly anything in 2020 and nothing in 2022. But now they're in to "get rid of Biden"

7. There's no secret there - it's the same thing that motivates all of us

They’re terrified of Trump 2.0. The difference is that they think the president can’t win and will drag the rest of the ticket down - while others of us think that he still can and any path to switching would itself make things worse.

And all sides of that coin are convinced that the rest of us should shut up and get in line because the failure to do so can be the worst outcome. And they’re probably right

Trump will probably win his district by double digits this time around. In order to keep his seat (which is still needed whether we like him or not) he needs to find ten percent of the population who is going to vote for Trump… yet will still vote for a Democrat in the house race.

Calling the top of their ticket an existential threat to democracy itself doesn’t seem like a way to do that

with the people calling for Biden to step aside is that they’re going to the media and making it public. All of this should be being discussed behind closed doors. What’s happening now is disastrous for the eventual ticket.

Both parties have far more factions than most people ever realize. If someone drops off of the ticket this late in the game - they’re all going to want to put their preferred faction forward… and there’s usually only one potential candidate (if even one) that can win in a quiet process. The rest have to call in attention to have a shot

See the push for Feinstein to get out of the way for an example

They got caught up in all of the post-debate hysteria, and demanding that Joe step aside helps ease their fear. Essentially, they're putting a rubber sheet on their bed after they soaked it. I suspect that a few of them are probably regretting it now, but they'll never admit it.

It’s how all fascist dictatorships are propelled into being. They know there are no repercussions for knee-capping Biden and they score points with the dictator-in-waiting, just in case he somehow gets in (he won’t). Also, note the race, socio-economic status and overall gender of those calling for Biden to step aside. Note the demographics of those who have his back. One group obviously thinks there are no repercussions for them should the worst happen. The other group sees exactly what’s up and doesn’t harbor a ridiculously false sense of security.
