What is it about the GOP/Trump that is so attractive to the "bro culture"?

By that I mean everything from the lacrosse guys to working class guys, blue collar auto mechanics, etc. Hell, there’s a local strip club advertising for Trump.

Democrats are seen as uncool, environmentalists, sexual deviants, egg heads, etc by these people.

A lot of the Trump bro culture voters won’t show up for the polls once he’s not on the ballot anymore. Why is he so damn appealing to them?

So that bullies and many victims of bullying are attracted to demonstrations of power, anger, oppression.

Thus, giant trucks and SUVs are sold in ever greater numbers as a tacit form of intimidating other drivers, as one example.

They want to be the rich guy who runs over the irritating panhandler and just drives away.

The want to be the lane-splitter, or the guy who runs the red light and slips the cop $200 and then drives off without consequences.

They want to slash the tires of the high school English teacher who flunked them for plagiarism and not get caught.

They want to cut in line at the grocery, and then tell the cashier to fuck herself when she calls them on it, and then smash their six of Natural Light on the floor and walk off into the sunset.

They want to do whatever they want, whenever they want and never have to pay for what they do. That's why they like Trump. He's what they dream of being.

Deep down they know they are losers, but they try to compensate for that with shows of toxic masculinity. They feel that, as Penis-Americans, they are entitled to control women and oppress "the others" to make themselves feel powerful and that they are deserving of the special status that males held in the past. I believe that all these toxic males are unable to deal with the fact that modern society largely doesn't need the skills identified with men nearly as much as it previously did, namely brute force and aggression. In fact, male aggression is literally killing us (gun massacres, etc.).

They don't like that it's "harder "for them. . They don't like that they have to compete to get into schools. Compete to get that prime spot in just the right firm after graduation. (Even though they still have an overwhelming advantage). It used to be that they were always a lock to get into the "right school and right job". Now, they have to compete against women and minorities that are just as or even more qualified.
It's so hard for white men. Gimme an effin break.

I am shocked at the influence and audience Tate has. That worries me more about my daughter’s world than guns or living in the city (Richmond). I love the city. Those people are out there and there are a lot of them. I don’t think a lot of people here or in the media understand the pull that world has. Portnoy, to me, is a wink and a nod at it without touching it directly.

and regulations, gun control efforts, and incarceration systems.

Sadly, this population's grievances have been stoked by everyone from Reagan to New Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh. Then Fox News defined them as "patriots". They were further reignited by Obama's election, which spawned the Tea Party.

In 2016 they were thrilled because the massive chips on their collective shoulders were recognized and validated.

Things changed too fast for them. It didn’t really affect them but they became convinced it did. Fox did a day of coverage of their big event from 4 or 5 different cities.

I really think it started with the Iraq war. It became overwhelmingly obvious that it was based on lies and going horribly wrong.
Then the Great Recession 2008.
The most white establishment guys, who’d always been in charge, failed completely. Theses people had been programmed to trust them because that’s how’d it had always been.
Then a black guy is President.
Then, not only was being gay an easy joke/abuse, gays were being celebrated. Allowed in TV openly.
Then gays could marry.

Too much. Just too much for them.
In that situation, new people sweep in to say these people are right, they’ll change it back, YOU PEOPLE will be the rightful owners again and THOSE PEOPLE will know their place.

But in my former career I worked with a lot of talented and well educated Engineers, M.D.'s and Ph.D's...

Some were Trump supporters.

They tended to be Libertarian-ish types...

Had a discussion with one of them... he compared Trump to Daenerys from Game of Thrones. He said like Daenerys, he's trying to "break the wheel" meaning to stop the perpetual cycle of abuse of the State waged against the common man.

I reminded him that Daenerys went crazy in the end and became a mass murderer.

- Real wages and earning power have gone down, making them feel like they're falling behind.
_They see people with better educations getting ahead.
- They (wrongly) point to affirmative action as a way for others to get ahead when they can't.
- They see their masculinity threatened by women who are now seen as equals.

The reduction in blue collar jobs and wages only amplifies these wrongly-placed feelings. In turn, the threat of job loss and poverty makes people do crazy things.

If we actually had good paying blue collar jobs, a lot of their dissatisfaction would go away.
