a softer approach, citing a strong message of unity.
I just dont see that happening? Especially after 9 years of hate filled rhetoric and pathetic behavior along with many lies. Ever since he came down the escalator, he has been in a constant state of denial and has never been able to speak the truth.
Call me naive but he is not one to change his words! He blames others and the arrogance is going to be over the top. He might sound somber in the beginning, but once he is gets going? He will go back to his original form.
As he says WE WILL TO SEE?

(5,455 posts)Coming close to being killed must certainly have SOME effect on a person. Even him. As much as I cant stand him.

(54,330 posts)The only thing it will matter to Trump is he'll have a new fund-raising ploy and rake in millions from the suckers.
That's because he's an arsewhole to yell "fight, fight, fight!" Getting shot is not something one experiences without SOME effect.

THAT is a Trump softer approach.

(7,604 posts)Does he realize that he was an inch away from getting his head blown off? And he's golfing the next day? This is not the sign of a courageous person. It's the sign of serious disturbance. It's also an indication that he's consciously learned NOTHING from the incident, except that he'll take advantage of the sympathy that his fans feel for him. Translation: MONEY.

(52,714 posts)There was dissension within the Republican party. i.e. There was the group that wanted to tone down the anti-abortion position, at least up to the election, because they know it guarantees that the other side will vote against them.
They know they have gone too far and have lost the Independents. Now they're going to reel it back in and say things they don't really mean. GW did the same thing, and people thought he was going to govern from the center. He faked them all. So will Trump.
Think. Again.

(7,080 posts)sometimes like this. They know they are losing the election AGAIN. All bolony. A leopard doesnt change its spots. But nice try clown guy. Pfffft

(32,761 posts)Magats are pushing the notion that both sides need to tone down the rhetoric, so when Democrats say that voting for TSF will end our democracy that will be considered hate speech, terroristic. TSF is saying tone it down to any criticism that he gets from Democrats.
This has nothing to do with him actually toning anything down, he figures the MSM will allow him to continue his rhetoric while attacking Democrats who say anything at all bad about him.
Thinking that TSF learned a lesson is a giant leap of faith. As they were dragging him off the stage he was fist pumping and yelling "fight" "fight."

(7,591 posts)They are trying to hide Project 2025 -- and so will continue to lie about it, try to get voters to look elsewhere.
But it's all a lie. As usual.

Not sure why the media believes they can wipe his slate clean and start over because it simply won't happen.

(4,462 posts)So apparently there's been a strategic decision of some kind.
I wonder if that combined with some measure of tone-softening is an attempt to reach whatever fence-sitters are left (though I can't believe there are very many).

(17,498 posts)(checks notes) who need killing"???
Is he no longer calling for "military tribunals" for his critics?
Is he ready to accept the legal verdicts juries and judges have convicted him of?
Fuck him!
He promoted, encouraged, enabled, excused and glorified political violence from the day he was fucking hatched from his lizard egg. His fucked up psychopathic family groomed him from infancy to be a fucking psychopath.
If anyone thinks he's fucking sincere about anything he says, somewhere, there is a fly with no wings that would like to have a word with you.

(26,113 posts)tcf will get a bump from the convention, it always, always happens and we will be subjected to lots of incomprehensively stupid ideas. It's going to be torture, especially with all the rw ads that will be foisted on us. Things change! By August, his bump will be over, he will be back to the screaming, raging lunatic he is at heart and then the Dems can have a great convention and flip the script.

(25,713 posts)Let us not concern ourselves with such trivial differences such as the fate of democracy and the rights of various humans. No, we must bind ourselves together in an unshakable national fabric, uniting under a singular strong leader to cast out the impure vermin from our Great country!
Damn that second TSF term is gonna su-uck.

(6,411 posts)He can't tell the truth so it will be a lie. What he is going for is a lie that can't be readily proved, and the media to give him the benefit of the doubt. Lot's of ways this could play out.

(64,628 posts)and lightly wounded at that. Maybe if he was put in a coma for a few weeks by the incident, but after that event any "changes" he makes to his speeches will be more fakery IMHO. Someone who has been a con man his entire life seldom reforms, he just finds a new con.
Let him show a "softer, kinder side." It'll piss off his minions and it won't convince me to vote against him.
