As an American living in Europe and speaking nine European languages, I always get an earful from the people in the countries I work in. I’m low-hanging fruit because if I say I don’t understand, they know I’d be lying.

They’re jealous when we have a Democratic president, and they mock me unmercifully when we have a Republican president. That’s the short version of course, but even so, it pretty much sums up the last 30 or do years for me.

It's easier to control a fearful and distracted populace. We're also more effectively manipulated when the manufactured issues that divide us are kept at 50/50 polling numbers. Corporate media propagandists can easily tip the scales in the direction they want when we're evenly split.
