After Assassination Attempt, Republicans Say It's Out Of Bounds To Call Donald Trump A Threat To Democracy

Say what Republicans? Former President Trump will ALWAYS remain a THREAT to Democracy for as long as he breathes. PROJECT 2025 has his finger prints and knowledge all over it. Democrats running for office need to continue to keep the heat on this man and his lust for power by using his words against him in ads and tweets. Republican rhetoric against Joe Biden, meanwhile, has been no less apocalyptic.

High-profile Republicans have immediately blamed Donald Trump’s near-assassination on Democrats calling him a threat to democracy.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said on Sunday that “when the message goes out constantly that the election of Donald Trump would be a threat to democracy and that the republic would end, it heats up the environment.”

Other Republicans were more explicit. Shortly after the shooting at Trump’s Pennsylvania campaign rally on Saturday, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said on social media that President Joe Biden’s rhetoric “led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination,” while Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) said in his own social media post, “This was an assassination attempt aided and abetted by the radical Left and corporate media incessantly calling Trump a threat to democracy, fascists, or worse.”

Donald J. Trump is the biggest traitor in the history of the United States of America.

Unretouched photo in which then-pee-resident Donald Trump sends former KGB colonel and current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, a conspiratorial wink.

What SCrOTUS, the repugs, Corporate McPravda want you to ignore:

1.) As pee-resident, Trump ordered a mob to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power.

2.) After leaving office, Trump hid Top Secret documents he was not authorized to possess after being ordered to return them.

This is not to forgive or forget his myriad treasons, along with the sundry sexual, financial, and fascist gangster criminality -- just what the Special Prosecutor has found.

Mike Johnson's call for "toning down the rhetoric" is laughable at best when he gets down on one knee to kiss the ring and does what he is told to do and say.

Yet all the while, his Lord and Master behaves as if nothing has happened, blaming others for what took place, using excuses in order to solicit sympathy.

I do NOT plan to watch any convention speeches and read the low-lites here. There is much to watch on Netflix this week as well as keep up on my reading. I have Anthony Fauci's new book yet to read after I finish a Biography on Louis XIV.

Republicans have Trump and their leader, but also Project 2025 as their playbook.

Trump promised to appoint corporatist conservative activist judges that would overturn Roe. Trump did just that. Trump promised to try to destroy Public Education and he gave us Betsy DeVos-more money for schools not for education or teaching, but for guns and gun training...

And don't forget how Trump has vowed to abuse the office of President even more now that SCOTUS has decided pretty much anything Trump does when in office could be considered an official duty.

Trump's character and policies are not off limits.

Trump's/Republican nominee's advisors have a new set of policies to restrict personal freedom, give away public resources, deregulate polluters/con artists, and allow negligent business practices to flourish (because freedom to con consumers trumps consumer protection). Oh, and loyalty tests to Trump/Republican Presidents from next term forward for all government jobs...

since he bypasses Congress at every opportunity, attempting to govern by EO, his fiats not passing muster by the courts in the past. That might change now that we have a 6 member council of mullahs running the USSC.

He is an existential threat. Should we dial down the rhetoric on that? I don't think we can, we're not authoritarians and we know some people, especially the younger and more passionate, will continue to exercise their right to free speech. We do need to point out that the existential threat to TFG came from within their own ranks and perhaps they need to clean up their own house before they run their gloved hands over ours.

I don't think any of us need to tone it down. We do need to point out to them where the problem is. They won't like it. So what?
