LESTER HOLT: But if-- if the opportunity came up to do one between now and then? Is there-- is there a sense of wanting to get back on the horse?
PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Im on the horse. Where have you been? Ive done 22 major events, met thousands of people, overwhelming crowds. A lots happening. Im on the horse. What Im doing is going out and demonstrating to the American people that I have command of all my faculties, that I dont need-- notes. I dont need telepro-- I can go out and answer any questions at all. And I stood there when-- when NATO was in town. I stood there for an hour and answered questions.

(17,743 posts)needs to pay much more attention to all the campaign events that Biden has been attending. Maybe Holt is tired and not able to keep up with Biden. Maybe its time for Holt to retire.
Meanwhile, all this crap is really getting old.
I watched MSNBC for a short time this afternoon and I heard several people explaining why they publicly questioned Joe's fitness to run for a second term and why they felt as journalists it was the right thing to do.
Apparently, they've gotten a lot of pushback and now they feel the need to justify what they've said and done. I wonder when and if they ever admit they were too hasty and had made a mistake.
I turned it off and haven't turned it back on. The republican convention is depressing enough, I don't need anymore dissing the president talk.

I turned it off. I don't need to hear all this weenie waving crap from a bunch of assholes and idiots having a shartfest orgy.
I'm having a nice evening with music instead.

It's their future world that they are voting on.

(102,802 posts)People need to see the reality, though I suspect many more do than we are led to think by our media. The media who have now exposed themselves as players and not on our side.
I think we'll be happily surprised when it all shakes out this fall.

(102,802 posts)By the time we get to November, they will have played their one-trick-pony trick so many times that even toddlers will be on to them. They will have pissed off 90% pf the planet by then, I can't imagine very many choosing to vote for them.
What we have to be watching for is the cheating and the many ways they go about it.
The media are something I will look to in very small helpings and mostly for other than political news.
DU can keep me entertained in other areas and I think I have a bunch of bookmarked things I need to look at so this is a good opportunity for that too. I will be watching the Dem event next month, this one and current events make it impossible to watch while sane.

(53,214 posts)2012 and MSNBC's people still talking about Biden's "fitness" to run, I couldn't take anymore. It was so surreal, just like all those enthusiastic people at the convention - do they know what kind of person they are cheering on?
In 2016 I suppose they had an excuse, but now everyone knows who he is. Still they act like it is just one big party. My mental and physical health couldn't take anymore. I have a feeling I'll be watching very little cable news between now and November. Probably spend a lot of time here!
I went to my garden and yanked up weeds for a while, I have my garden on the east side of a building so it goes in the shade during the hottest part if the day and into the night. With the horrendous heat we have these days, full sun means something quite different. Pulling weeds or cutting down a forest of overgrowth is therapeutic.
I have other things I could be doing, I'll probably get to them sooner now!

(53,214 posts)You can just imagine they're all republican politicians! The analogies are endless.
There always other things we could be doing, but as I get older, I find so many of them really aren't all that important and the world doesn't end if I don't get to them.

(17,743 posts)if their bosses have told them to bash Joe Biden. Its sickening. I havent watched the idiots at msnbc in a couple years nowoccasionally have seen Lawrence who is the only sane person there anymore. I dont count Rachel, because she is only on once a week.

(53,214 posts)when it comes to Biden. Right now Lawrence is the only one I will go out of my way to watch. I understand Mika is very supportive, but I don't watch Morning Joe these days.
I think a bunch of them never really cared for Biden all that much, even though they love his policies. Joe has never been a media darling. He's had issues with journalists throughout his long career. He has gotten as far as he has in spite of them, not because of them.

(361 posts)...he thinks he's the boss in that room. He's a doggone media guy. That's all. Why we give him and them such deference I'll never know.
More on air - live - push back to the inane media questions.
Democratic leadership seems to be getting it a little lately.
You don't have to accept the premises of their inane questions Dems!
You have no friends or allies. Grasp it. Business is against you because you dare support labor and admit the police need "tweaking".
It's about power and let them know we have power too and will use it.
Good job President Biden. Thanks to the poster for bringing this to the DU community.
This stuff really pisses me off because I don't grasp why Dems are not attacking more, and it seems they finally may be attacking the Deadbeat Felon and corporate media.
Attack their supposed strengths, attack them when they're up, attack them when they're down and if they're drowning, throw them a phucking anvil.

(179,869 posts)I watched the entire interview and was also very irked at Holt and the way this interview was conducted. I had heard earlier that President Biden was stuttering and did not handle himself well in this interview. I was very pleased with President Biden's performance in this unfair interview. There was no stuttering and President Biden answered all of the questions and then pointed out Holt's double standard.
I agree with Morning Joe on the way that Holt conducted this interview

On Monday night, as the Republican National Convention kicked into high gear, NBC released the sitdown interview between Holt and Biden and, on Tuesday morning, Scarborough shared a clip and expressed his displeasure at what transpired.
Speaking with fellow MSNBC host Al Sharpton, Scarborough stated he needed to address Holt's obsession with getting Biden to admit he has engaged in violent rhetoric and needs to tone down his criticism of the former president.
"We just need to talk about that line of questioning from NBC's Lester Holt," the MSNBC host stated after the clip ended. "It was an important question to ask, about what President Biden said in a private fundraiser to donors. It's a question I would have asked. I think any of us would have asked that question, but to ask that question without any context, about the politically violent rhetoric that Republicans have been engaged in for close to a decade now."
"We could talk about Nancy Pelosi, we could talk about the assassinations of Joint Chiefs, the hangings of Mike Pence. We could go on and on and on. We could talk about it on both sides. Again, a good question to ask about what he said in a private fundraiser a good question to ask, I would have asked the same question. But to ask that question absent of any context seems to me to be you talk about a phony moral relativism."
"It was screaming throughout that part of the interview, and I must say, I was shocked," he added.
