(16,385 posts)our allies shouldnt be contributing to the grimness. I respect Obama and that wont change but I hope hes not behind an effort to replace Biden. Regardless of how one feels about Bidens fitness, he has decided to stay the course. Its time to unite behind him or well get wiped out in November.

(12,011 posts)From what I have read, it seems like lots of Democrats and reporters have called him trying to see where he stands but he is being pretty tight-lipped because he knows anything he says could be leaked and construed as him trying to push Biden out. It's no secret that he had doubts in 2020 about whether Biden was up for a campaign and I am sure he has those same doubts now, but I have seen no evidence that he is making an active push to get Biden out of the race.

(1,493 posts)...nor am I not paying attention.
Things are only grim if you feel this race is somehow over. Not only is it far from over, Democrats have an overwhelming case to deliver to a country willing to accept it if they'd show some unity and courage. I'd love to be running against a Republican in a competitive district or state. I'd love to talk to people everyday about Trump's authoritarian desires, the do-nothing Republicans in the House, the cruelty of forcing women to give birth even when it endangers their lives, and the fascist blueprint that is Project 2025. If you can't convince the voters of the not only those dangers while being able to talk about Democratic accomplishments and the future, you don't belong in politics.
It's "grim" for the defeatists. We should have no problem kicking Republican ass between now and November.

(15,359 posts)was hoping he could put Harris in the White House? When we heard before "it's time for a woman in the White House" ad nauseum it didn't work out.
I'd love to see Harris president some day as long as she isn't confused by what the word no means. I'd rather not hear about her emails for a decade.

Obama has no reason to do that to Joe.
First of all it would get out that he's doing that in a real way.
Right now all they have is that Clooney might have given him a heads up
and Obama stayed neutral.

(24,282 posts)Clinton came out and supported Pres. Biden. But apparently that isnt enough for some people. Do they need to repeat themselves ad nauseum?

(1,252 posts)Considering a very possible problem with black voter turnout. A public fight with the one person that could maybe help with that? Not a great look. And as we see, Trump is already exploiting the division, so obviously still watching Morning Joe.
This in-fighting will be fatal if it continues.

(2,724 posts)has just as much inside knowledge as all of the other media personalities. If you watch this mornings show, you would see Scarborough also calling out David Axelrod and others inside that circle, and asking Obama to come out and call an end to this.
Further, the CBC as well as black leaders such as Al Sharpton and the NAACP are fully behind Biden, even though I expect that they would know full well who the players are behind this. So this is telling.
As a black woman, this is very unsettling to me and I will remain firmly behind Biden. I have his back.

(1,252 posts)also put out (baseless) rumors about who wrote the clooney op head and other (denied) accusation mainly aimed at the 'Pod Save America' crew which consists of former Obama staff.
So team Biden are (rightly) in attack mode right now but are attacking some of the wrong people.
Obama put out a strong statement in support of Biden after the debate. That's all I need to know.
Skya Rhen
(2,724 posts)is consistently bashing Biden every time they speak? I hear this trashing with my own ears - so, no, it is not baseless to conclude that they are a part of the campaign to pressure Biden to exit.

(12,011 posts)I don't think he's actively behind any effort to get Biden to step aside. He's been so tight-lipped that the press are grasping at straws trying to figure out where he stands.

(3,832 posts)Did Scarborough say Obama was "behind"
this effort, as in orchestrated, set in motion?
I know about the alleged heads-up from Clooney before the NYT editorial. I can see what others have, that Obama might have remained silent to avoid undue influence accusations or affecting the process with unpredictable results.
This seems more like Axelrod and company at work. If that's the case, Scarborough or someone should have the spine to say so.
This has been discussed here recently. It was mentioned, and I strongly agree, that if Barack Obama thought Joe shouldn't run he would speak to him directly and privately. That may have happened and of course, Joe could have said what he's said
several times - that he is running.
