Donald Trump Does Not Get Post-Shooting Poll Boost https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-no-poll-boost-after-assassination-attempt-us-election-1925680
The findings also reveal that Trump's lead has narrowed slightly since the firm's previous survey, conducted between July 12 and 14, which put Trump two percentage points ahead with 44 percent to Biden's 42 percent...
Expect Trump to sink more with the Vance pick.

(9,347 posts)is the story about him not calling the widow of the man killed at Trump's rally. Regardless of your political leanings, that is a violation of basic human decency. Would it be enough to switch voters from Trump to Biden? No, but it could make someone disinterested in voting for Trump.

(1,980 posts)I saw it reported that Trump will attend the funeral, which fits because Trump loves PR.

(128,798 posts)Never mind the guy who was killed and his family. It's like Alice Roosevelt Longworth once said about her dad Teddy: He had to be the corpse at every funeral, the bride at every wedding and the baby at every christening.

(5,071 posts)He hasn't shown himself capable of being at an event without boorishly trying to be the star of the show. He could make himself look really, really bad by doing that at the funeral.
I'll bet that the media (and almost certainly Republicans) go after President Biden for not attending.

(5,009 posts)They, along with the rest of us, know that a convicted felon, pathological liar, rapist, cheat, adulterer, fake Christian Con-man that faked a whole bunch of fake businesses would surely pull such a stunt. Yeah - he's a fake - everyone knows it, yet the mainstream media seems to keep treating him like an honest player.

(6,165 posts)The coverage was weird. And each time he put his fist in the air just showed how unconcerned he was for anyone else. It was the worst way to react, as if the assassination attempt and mass shooting was just a game that he had just won.
Even our very special "undecided" voters would be mostly turned off by that.
And I think the fact that the attempt wasn't part of a grand leftist conspiracy and was just another "thoughts and prayers" mass shooting brought to you by another mentally ill kid with a gun (a policy that Republicans support) keeps the media from being able to do much but repeat themselves.

(9,749 posts)Him getting wounded didn't help. So....what's his next act going to be??
I don't think we want to know when you have a NAZI who is desperate enough to get back in the WH and stay out of prison he will do literately anything.
