Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsEveryone who's Riding with Biden (like me!) get in here and tell us why!
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm in the mood for a positivity thread and figured I'd start one. I am 100% with Joe because he's sane, competent, has a great record of achievements, and has the metric fuckton of experience that's needed to navigate the current global and domestic land/hellscape. Dark Brandon is just the icing on the cake (which obviously comes with ice cream).
Now I gotta get OUT there and spread the word. Who's with me?

(23,364 posts)So to the OP, that's why.
I will never turn on my country in support of Vladimir Putin or dictators. The republican party is no more. The remains of the are little more than a bunch of nutty wacky crazies, in other words, ass kissing followers. I can't live kissing someone else's ass morning, noon, and night like their yellow turncoat TV watching followers do.
Joe Biden stands for everything good about America and he's a common good man with uncommon duty to serve his country. He knows the difference between wrapping yourself in the American flag and self-labeling yourself a patriot from actually setting policy that unifies Americans and prolongs the promise of the American idea. He is a roll model and a political rock star.
I am proud to be a democrat and proud to be with Joe Biden in 2024.

Furthermore, Kamala Harris is a wonderful VP. I would like to see her get out there more in these next four years after their victory in November!!

My husband (a veteran as am I) died in 2018. He wanted to be buried in the National Cemetery but the POTUS in office at the time would have signed the certificate and I know my dear hubbie would have hated to have that bloated yams signature on his certificate. So I waited until Joe was in office before I had my husbands ashes interred. I am so happy I waited for the true President Joe Biden to sign the certificate thanking him for his service. Not the guy who called us losers and suckers.

(6,913 posts)I've long thought that Biden in his old age has been a better president than he could have been in earlier decades.
Back then, my impression of him was that he was just another politician. But he has gained a great deal of experience and wisdom since then, and his compassion and empathy have only grown stronger in the face of personal grief and tragedy.
Now that he's old and near the end of his career, he's free to do what is best for the people, and for the nation. He doesn't have to cater to the "powers that be", the influence peddlers, the moneyed elites - especially in his second, final term.
That's probably why they want him out.
NoveltySocks
(415 posts)Being 81 means that he's probably not that fussed over what his own future looks like, and can truly focus on what kind of future he can help set up for the US (and the world). He personally has little to lose at this point, IMO. I think that makes him seem dangerous to TPTB.

GOP agenda:
A society that excludes and criminalizes necessary health care and personal sexual preferences.
A society that warps the constitution to establish one religion and encourage violence against others.
Americans pitted against each other along lines of race, color, religion, gender, sexuality, and income.
Vilification of blacks, Jews, Muslims, lgbtq+ , homeless, and women of strength, encouraging violence against them.
Destruction of public schools and the opportunity they provide to all, minorities included.
Funding of private, religious schools to increase class division and unequal access and opportunity.
Banning of books.
Devastating climate change
Leveling the Gaza waterfront to create a Hotel Strip
A deadly all-out war on the rights of women.
More welfare for the rich.
Private health care companies replace medicare and deny needed treatments -- basically "death panels"
Every civil right is eroded by clown judges living in the 18th century rewriting the constitution.
Worker's rights and benefits reduced in order to create greater profits for businesses.
Safety nets removed, so that homeless, and jobless people are left to die on the streets.
More, more, more of culture war.
GUNS, everywhere, with no limitations or requirements. Mob rule ( warms Putin's heart )
Unbridled support of authoritarian regimes across the globe, who eagerly imprison, "re-educate", murder and commit atrocities on others.
Lies, hate speech and threats are welcomed on "social media" and given support by government officials.
Medical care and prescription drug costs skyrocket.
Leadership by people with the lowest morals of all. Grafters and grifters.
JOE'S AGENDA (as I see it)
Support of women's health care and sexual preferences.
Separation of religion and state, and protection of minority rights.
Americans of every race, color, religion, gender, sexuality, and income honored and treated fairly.
The wealthy pay their damn fair share.
Acceptance and embrace of blacks, Jews, Muslims, lgbtq+ , homeless, and women of strength.
Zero tolerance of hate and violence.
Strong action to reduce gun violence.
Vigorous support of public schools and the opportunity they provide to all, minorities included.
Getting private, religious schools off the dole.
Slashing the divide in education, opportunity, internet access and access to the levers of power.
Banning book bans!
A local and global "Manhattan Project" to counter climate change
Guaranteeing the rights of women.
Support of Medicare, so that some day, we can have UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, SINGLE PAYER.
Taking profiteers of "Medicare Advantage" plans to task.
Restoring the Supreme Court to one that serves all people, and it not a religious tribunal or den of thieves.
Worker's rights and benefits increased and guaranteed.
Safety nets bolstered for homeless, jobless, and other needy people.
Holding social media accountable for calls to violence that they harbor or actively foster.
Sensible gun control
Putting authoritarian regimes across the globe on notice.
A better society by POSITIVE EXAMPLE

He is the most progressive president in my lifetime, he has shown that he actually cares about people who aren't rich, much more so than other presidents who claim that. He's been a leader and more important, he knows how to get things done.
Do I agree with everything he says or does? Nope. Doesn't matter. I'm not going to agree with anyone 100% of the time, that doesnt' matter because he's working for ME (and you, and really everyone) to make this country better.

(8,445 posts)I was probably as devastated at Biden's debate performance as anyone. At that moment yes I was saying we can't win this.
However, how Biden has come back, with strong rallies, strong speeches and strong interviews is telling another tale. If Biden flopped at the debate and then continued to look completely out of it, then yea maybe he's not the guy, but watch his interview with Holt the Hack or today's speech at the NAACP. He has not quit, he has not thrown in the towel like the quitters who are whining still about the debate.
Him not quitting could be seen as ego, he refuses to admit the truth. However, the truth is he may have what it takes as a CANDIDATE. We know what he has as a President, he is 1000x the President, leader, man that his opponent is. Is he a "good enough candidate?" That's the question and he HAS rebounded and maybe it's not ego, but rather a complete devotion to make sure the blackness sure to hit us if Trump were elected does not happen.
Also, there are dynamics. To replace Biden now, assuming he even needed to be replaced, would be a complete mess, weeks of in-fighting, lobbying, trying to touch base with donors, etc, etc. Lots of Democrats will be talking and squawking about Harris, Newsome, Shaprio or whoever. While we are yelling at who we want, NOTHING is being said about Trump and Project 2025.
We move off Biden now we basically suspend our campaign against the fascists, and we can't give them that much of a runway. Biden is the guy, he has proven it by taking on an hour Q/A session and has proven it by spirited, tough as nails speeches and he has also proved it by the things he has accomplished in his first four years and the man he is. To me there was never a doubt, even if Biden was drooling on himself I was voting for him, but as the days go by and he continues to look stronger and stronger I am getting more positive, more energized and I believe many of my fellow Americans will see the same and follow suit.

Wealthy Republicans have only to look at their own bottom lines or stock portfolios, and most will once again see that the numbers dont lie: if you want to live like a Republican, then vote for a Democrat. It was obvious after Reagan and Bush I. It was painfully obvious after Cheney-Bush II. It is glaringly obvious now after the Trump disaster compared to three and a half years of Joe Biden. What good are zero taxes if they apply to zero income?

(12 posts)The first thing I look for in a President is what kind of person is he/she. President Biden is the kind of person that I was brought up to respect. Every thing my parents drummed into me growing up is what I see in President Biden. Love of family, love of God, love of country, respect of others and those less fortunate, loyalty, honesty, and a hard work ethic. His family and country come first with him. He has a good heart, he respects the citizens of our country no matter what party they are affiliated with. He works for the good of our country every day. He respects our constitution and he doesnt praise dictators of this world.

(727 posts)He taught me that deep Washington experience is not the same thing as being a career politician, and the proof is in the governance.
He made my student loans bearable.
He stands up for himself and for us.
Also, the older I get, the more sensitive I become to the topic of ageism. I want to be even just half as productive and effective when I'm his age.

(915 posts)Carter was president when I learned to read & write,
and through Reagan-Bush it looked like the party was dragged to the right.
I wasn't crazy about Clinton and by the end of his time I plain did not like him.
Obama didn't do me a whole lot better.
I was skeptical about Biden at first, and he's really pissed me off a couple times.
Turns out I didn't know much about him then.
Did not know he was the least wealthy among his senate colleagues.
Did not know that he's the third least wealthy - just above Truman and Carter -
of the thirteen presidents we've had since WW2.
And he's been talking like it, and acting like it, about as far as he can

(12,502 posts)Manage in 2 terms. He's a fierce defender of democracy and the rule of law. He reminds us that as Americans we can be better, more just and equitable, that we have a responsibility outside ourselves to our fellow citizens and the world beyond.
He is the People's President. He makes me proud to be an American once again.
I've said earlier that Joe Biden was never my guy or choice in earlier runs for the presidency. I voted for Biden in 2020 because I believed he had the best chance of beating Trump. I was right. But then, he exceeded my expectations becoming the best president of my living memory, keeping his promises to the American public, leading us through the Covid debacle that Trump exacerbated, pulling us back from an economic disaster and keeping faith with our European Allies.
Yes, he's old. He's also wise, experienced and dedicated.
He's earned the title of The People's President. I'd vote for him a 1000x if I could.

(15,791 posts)The other team would hand Ukraine to Putin. They would let him invade Poland next, and refuse to honor NATO Article V.
Biden knows who the international good and bad guys are. (It has nothing to do with flattering the U.S. president.) Trump pals around with the worst dictators in the world.
Biden succeeded in ending the occupation of Afghanistan, where three presidents before him failed. Yes, it was chaotic and messy; TSF's team refused to even tell Biden the plan was happening before he took office.
There was no recession after COVID as many were predicting. Biden got money to the people who needed it, which kept demand going and the economy afloat. Now we're going gangbusters. The ultra-rich are nervous about taxes; that's who was calling for replacing him, using some elected Democrats to make those statements or risk losing their donations.
Biden supports unionized workers and walked a picket line. TSF gave tax breaks to people who don't need any more money.
Character matters. Biden has refused the unconstitutional powers granted to him by the corrupt Supreme Court. The other guy would become a dictator on day one, and stay that way for life. Trump's team helped write Project 2025 and is already hiring brownshirts to replace civil servants.
Biden knows there is no such thing as presidential immunity; that's just a phrase Trump pulled from his ass that should have stayed there.
TSF stole classified documents and refused to return them when asked. He ate his translator's notes after meeting with Putin. He forced states to compete with each other for PPE during COVID. He let Bin Salman get away with the torture and murder of Kashoggi.
I could go on, but it comes down to character, decency, respect, competence, wisdom, and integrity.
