Crooks is first seen walking around a magnetometer with a laser rangefinder, at about 5:40 p.m. leaves the venue, circles around to the back of the maintenance facility and climbs the roof as Trump starts talking.
Who starts their scouting and execution for such an act 40 minutes after Trump was supposed to begin his presentation?
Donald Trump will be holding a rally at the Butler County Farm Show grounds this Saturday just days before he is set to be crowned as the Republican nominee in Milwaukee.
Doors for Trump's appearance are set to open at 1 p.m. Saturday; Trump himself is scheduled to speak at 5 p.m.

(4,964 posts)He thought that that he would take his position while Trump was part way through his long speech, while the crowd would be looking at Trump rather than glancing around at their surroundings.
Note, all of the foregoing is conjecture on my part. I am simply advancing a possible explanation.
ON EDIT: I am sorry that I mistakenly replied to your post. I meant to reply to the OP.

(81,266 posts)He would want to minimize his time on the rooftop.
Much better to arrive late.
The audience is focused on the speakers.
Not looking around.
Not noticing him climbing up to the rooftop.
And he is not on the rooftop long before he starts shooting.
Minimizes his exposure.

(7,591 posts)The Felon/Rapist has lied to you (and us) a thousand times. Should we accept without question this latest incident? Should we not wonder at all why there has been no medical report of how the Felon was treated? Should we not ask about the security failures?
Not for me. I think it would be stupid to trust the guy. So I am asking questions. I'm glad the OP is also asking questions.

(31,904 posts)we get a complete picture of the shooter's motive ( if possible ) as well as a second by second account of what the shooter, the witnesses, the local and state police and the Secret Service movements and communications were. We deserve this because we need to know what could or should be improved for the next outdoor rally by a candidate. And we need to knock down all conspiracy rumors, etc. If there was or is an ongoing coverup of something, I hope that this forensic details report tamps them down or ends in arrests ( if there was something nefarious going on ).

(81,266 posts)Don't know if we will get it or not.
Especially if the results make the SS look bad.

(7,964 posts)- from securing the perimeter to knocking Trump to the floor the second there was a shot. This security was a total mess.

I see some hobbies which don't make sense to me, but I respect to each their own.
And if it causes no harm, not my business anyway.

(15,463 posts)this kind of insistence on 'conspiracy' is clearly a rabbit hole for many.
And as evidence - just check out how quickly (and persistently) wild theory and speculation has taken shape on this site.
It's not healthy at all - either individually, or collectively.

(15,463 posts)What I'm clearly skeptical of - is the continuous trolling for speculation and innuendo.
And the post you are responding to was pretty straightforward in that regard.
(Are you connected to this case in any capacity? And if not, why would I be interested in your amateur speculation/investigation?)

(15,463 posts)So, returning to the original, "Is this a question worth asking ?"
I guess my answer is still, "What's the point!?" And, "None that I can see."

(9,100 posts)I don't know if this a typo or a misunderstanding.
There were reportedly security magnetometer stations at the entrance to the rally site, and Crooks first attracted attention by loitering near one, so delete "with" and your statement would be correct.

(1,418 posts)when he went through the magnetometer. He didn't have his gun but must have gone back to his car and then gone to the building that was not within the secure perimeter.

None of that is surprising.

(732 posts)Someone mentioned his Google activity? What movies did he watch? Recent life crisis? Nursing homes can be depressing! Dad didn't live there.
When and what inspires the cult followers to eventually turn on the demigod? Someone mentioned in thread, the turnout was nearly half the size it was in 2022. Are the Hannibal Lectors now crawling out of the woodwork? Check the report yesterday on Alex Jones and what he said 5 months ago!
It's all crazy shit, but these things need to be in the hopper!
