(42,032 posts)Every democrat has to vote, no matter who or what they are. It has to be about the country and democracy. We can be angry, but our feeling don't matter. Not this time.
Please don't say that. No matter what we all have to vote Blue No Matter Who. That is what Joe Biden would want, even after getting stabbed in the back. He would say it isn't about him. It is about saving Democracy.

(42,032 posts)Sometimes it isn't about making a point. Sometimes it is about protecting democracy for a generation yet to be born.
If Trump wins, this country will become an authoritarian state and no one will ever care how pissed off you are again.

(3,322 posts)If TFG wins. Obviously, OUR Party elites and its big-money donors don't really believe that, otherwise they wouldn't be throwing all these spanners in the works.
So no. I'm not buying that talking point anymore, and I'm tired of being told what to do by people who wouldn't deign to spit on me if I was on fire.
I'm sick of this shit!

But for me this has become an issues campaign. I could not live with myself if TFG gets elected simply because DEMS did not do things my way. I have worked for the Dems well over 40 years and have never felt the urgency to vote as I have now. We must unite.

I agree that pissing off primary voters is a huge concern.

(42,032 posts)If Joe Biden is forced out and Kamal Harris is passed over, they will both have to be the ones who get out there and make the case that this can not be about anything less than saving America.
And they both love this country and democracy that they will do that.
But I have to say, If the democratic leadership pulls the rug out from under democrats it is going to really hurt.

(7,782 posts)in revolt, mad! I think the population of women not under the maga thrall will have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th thoughts about any of the parties at that point. We women, as a whole, are methodical; we're logical; and we're compassionate. Go against those virtues at your danger, and deal with the consequence. If they ripped Biden from us, and then kicked Harris to the curb... I wouldn't be surprised to see WOMEN start their own political party comprised mostly of women and, maybe, feminist-leaning men.
Think. Again.

Have seen plenty since then that he is capable of making it through the election.
So replacing him makes it that much more likely that we lose.
Name one fucking time when Dems caved to Repuke and Media demands and it worked. One fucking time. They immediately pivot to weakness on the Democrats part.
If people aren't watching how the media is doing nothing but pushing Repuke talking points AND will do the same through the election then there really is no hope in educating people that Repuke/Media are anti-Democracy.

this election is bigger than Joe Biden...this is Democracy vs Trump...
Just watch us. Staying home from the polls when you're African American is no problem.
Think about it, when you've been relegated as a third class citizen since 1619, Trump winning wouldn't be any much of a blow to us than most of the past president's, even Nixon and Woodrow Wilson.

(6,224 posts)Nov. however, we can make that happen. We have 4 states that will be deciding the fate of this country Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin. Internal polling will determine what happens. Either way I am sure Kamala will be fine and she will be firmly on board with whatever happens.

(3,416 posts)Eff this. There is no path forward. If they had one, theyd have told us. This is a Hollywood-Silicon Valley dream that we can toss over our selected team now. Theyll dismember the party by disenfranchising our votes. This could have been considered in spring 2023, not summer 2024. They need to learn to say no! to billionaires.

They stick random white guy, you lose Black vote. You stick Black woman in there, the rednecks will come out in force. We have the right mix, right now. And if Biden resigns Jan 21, 2025, then I'm all for it, as I love Kamala.

(12 posts)I voted AGAINST Trump in 2016 and when he won I left the country.
I voted AGAINST Trump in 2020, Biden lovers should know I did not then and do not now think he was the best choice.
I will vote in 2024 and again I will be voting AGAINST Trump. And if he wins I will leave the country, even if it is to die in a country not run by fascists.
To OP, Harris may or may not be the best for the job of president, I happen to think others would be better suited, but if her name is on the ballot against Trump I will vote for her.

This is how those at the top would prefer it. We all sense that there is some kind of horse trading and come-to-Jesus cluster fucking going on in the smoke filled conference rooms. Thats as close well get until the spoonfuls of caster oil come down the line.

(1,091 posts)Polling has consistently shown what motivates people most is voting AGAINST trump
Harris didn't receive much African-American support when she made her own bid for President. Obviously, black voters would NOW vote for her, but the idea they wouldn't vote for another Dem for President to prevent Trump might be very incorrect.
Not saying passing her over is a great idea, but there are advantages and disadvantages to it. And trump must be defeated
