Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt seems to me the whole purpose of this psyop,
and the eddies and currents of the internecine warfare that flow from it, is to dishearten people to the point that they will believe an outcome that is unbelievable. Failing that, it hopes that people will be so demoralized that they will not fight hard enough when they try to steal it in the courts.
This shit has to stop. Biden is the candidate. He should beat the corrupt motherfucker in a landslide. It should not take a billion dollars to do it. Any other result is unacceptable and would lead to the subjugation or dissolution of the nation.
Like Mineral Man, I am too old for this. Goodnight.

(8,343 posts)We wont have any basic services. Private prisons will flourish. A tiny minority of white men are certain they are chosen to lead the rest of us and take everything we have and their psychotic dream will be fulfilled. With no federal assistance, the ultra wealthy will take over all the coastal land currently held by the working poor and middle class. Hurricanes will wipe them away forever. The fallout seems endless. Beg every stranger you feel you can to get out and vote against these madmen.

(10,789 posts)and "rule by consent" goes out the window. Not to be too cynical, but a government doing things against the best interests of the people is basically how an oligarchy operates, and the GOP has reformed itself in the last few years to operate as an oligarchy. If you read the Project 2025, it's basically a road map to end majority rule. If they gain power they won't care if what they do is popular or not. The majority of the news organizations are already owned by billionaires who are backing Trump anyway, and enough people are already trained to think as they're told to think. They are pretty close to being able to pull it off.

That is why democrats running for office must hammer this point home every speech they give, and every time they talk to any media. All this is gaslighting, they want to keep us mentally exhausted, don't buy into it. reading these posts and some DU'ers are keeping me sane. And this is all to get us in a lather don't buy it.

(1,151 posts)It has been bad, the public polling. Not with Biden DEEPLY behind, but behind consistently for months.
There are reports the in-house Dem polling is bad.
There's another debate scheduled, too. I mean, no one sees a danger in that? The debate didn't change the race a huge amount, but a little bit is all it takes.

(8,006 posts)Yeah, what's up with that? Even if Joe could be replaced it would be with Kamala who, given the racist, anti woman attitudes and yeah, even among some of our own in their deep subconscious, she may well be even more unelectable.
It was all going so well too ... Hillary was sure to be elected and would continue on with the great task of bringing America into, well ... at least the 20th century like the rest of civilized world, building on the great works begun under the Obama administration but then Comey and...it's been bad and getting worse ever since. Where were all these goobers hiding?

(3,417 posts)for our ticket are being unrealistic. My take is that the polls have been off for at least the past 4 years. One-off elections have been wrong when Republicans have been favored. The referendums on reproductive choice, even in red states, have been won by pro-choice turnout. The 2022 midterm was going to be a red wave if polls and pundits were believed and it was perhaps a red ripple. No wave in sight. Also, the French were expected to elect LePen. Not so, though.
Polls have extrapolated big numbers from very small ones. Many people dont have landlines. Many others wont pick up for an unknown number.
How can we put full faith in polls when we all know about these recent results? Maybe I am unrealistic. But I prefer to trust a seasoned pol who is truly a good man and a patriot than all of the questionable polls.

Even good people I know dont seem to get this. Even among our own DU members, there are those who dont get how serious this is. I say we need to slap the metaphorical shit out of people who think we have time. Who think we have time for their nuanced opinions. They got caught once twisting Sen. Coons' words, making it sound like "I'm concerned about Biden...", not bothering to quote the entire sentences?

(That Hillary? Unfaithful husband and she does nothing, besides she stumbled getting into that car, and a woman! Definitely unfit! etc.)
Result? Well, we have seen what Trump brought in his 4 years, he was an agent of chaos!
I'm thinking a lot of Americans don't buy the static from the MSM anymore, and are more astute in deciding what is presented to them by the MSM as being nothing more than manipulation and Orwellian mind control.
More prepared to identify manipulative BS and ignore it.
Hopefully, I'm right.

(8 posts)Getting really tired of people throwing insults towards those with genuine concerns. Talk about demoralizing. When people in your supposed coalition not only ignore every concern that is raised, but turn around and insult you for having the audacity to speak them, well, we're basically telling people to stay home and not vote. Now the knives are out for formerly trusted Dem politicians such as Pelosi, Schumer, Jeffries and Schiff because they dare to raise concerns.

Find your Courage. It's there. If you don't, use it, we're lost. (7,790 posts)I fought for change when I was younger and could walk straight, instead of bent over with a bad back. My mouth was also a whole lot louder!
While I completely understand the desire for younger blood, and for us Boomers to retire and move over for the next generation (or the one after that)... NOW is not that time. If all things had been equal and we were on a "normal" election process, things could have been different. But things are NOT copasetic. Nothing is in balance yet - not even the American people. So, now is not the time to change horses midstream. Besides, and I know this is probably because I'm on "this" side of the equation, but I find the whole thing to smack of ageism. I'm already fighting for women's rights we won 50 years ago... and I see the time coming (and already have been in the fight once again) for disability rights. I detest see us, ourselves, adding ageism on top of that. I know it's really hard for people in this country to understand; we're not raised the way those in the East or other cultures are raised to respect and honor those who have reached old age. Here, youth is celebrated, old age is hidden away in nursing homes. Frankly, I think it sucks.

(136 posts)It's looking like the party wants Biden out. That's not promising for November; however, if Biden announces at the convention that he is dropping out and hands his delegates to Kamala Harris, and a good vice presidential candidate is generally agreed on in advance, they might avoid a floor fight. This might work if Biden can give his supporters reason to be enthusiastic about the new ticket. The news cycle could well give a boost to the Democrats. I have supported Biden all along, and still do, but I'm looking for a plan B here.
