In 2012 President Obamas campaign effectively portrayed Romney as out of touch with ordinary Americans. The narrative stuck and Obama was reelected. Amen
The current narrative on President Biden is he is too old to be president. Is it correct? NO Is it fair? NO Shouldnt they be looking at the other guy? YES
But the only question that needs to be answered is how do you change the narrative? Outside of replacing President Biden with a younger candidate how do you change the narrative? Because unfortunately and unfairly this narrative has stuck.

(274 posts)Almost every poll I have seen Biden is slipping.
I love Joe Biden, he has been a good president and is a great man. This has absolutely nothing to do with Biden. If trump and the Magat get control of the government our country is over.
Whatever we decide has to be the RIGHT decision. Again how do you change the Narrative?

What we can do is focus on showing the experience has helped him accomplish many things. That him aging is a result of his working hard as President instead of spending all his time being loaded and dragged around in Golf cart.

Unfortunately the media has painted this picture of him being too old. I agree its not fair.
I dont see a better answer
I think the drip drip of Democrats asking for Biden to end his campaign has only kept it alive. If ten days ago they'd rallied behind him en masse, I think this would have largely (though not entirely) gone away by now. The polling isn't that bad given the drumbeat of "will he or won't he" that's been nearly constant. Fundamentals would point to a Biden win, but dangling the possibility he might step away for a younger replacement has hurt him in the polls. I still think people would come back to him if there were no other option, but the chance that there will be is sucking him down....which in turn makes the Democratic poo bahs scared...which gets in the press...which hurts Biden....thus making the loop feed on itself.

(274 posts)I think we all understand that stakes in this election are high too high and failure is not an option.
The media is driving this narrative. Its not right but it has stuck.

I'm just saying something we can try doing in response to that concern.

Cant tell you how many times I have heard or seen hes to old. Not saying I believe but I think way too many have and some of those are persuadable voters

That's what we're fighting. That's the f*cking narrative!
I dont disagree
But thats not what is being reported.

Just my two a younger candidate brings a generational contrast. Like Obama vs McCain
