I would have thought the feeding frenzy would be over by now.

But it continues, driven by different agendas. Regardless of how the narrative is being pushed, the damage being done becomes exponential as the days go by.

It's this simple: when you discuss Joe Biden leaving this race, no matter who you are, it's damaging. No what how well thought out your mitigation, it's harmful and, at this point, just plain cowardly. And the biggest danger we face in this election is cowardice.

If we're not clearly talking about what could be the truly frightening result of this election, we're doing the wrong thing. If an old man who is more lucid and in emotional control than the vast majority of his detractors is more frightening than the actual loss of our democratic system, you're afraid of the wrong thing. Not understanding the hidden trepidation that's long been driving doubt about Biden has more to do about his vice-president than it does about him is missing the point. Most people polled aren't going to say they're worried about the black lady becoming president, but they will say it's "Biden's age", or "the economy", or other reasons they feel are more socially acceptable long before saying they're afraid Biden might die and leave us with a black lady president.

This whole thing has taken on the dimensions of a propaganda exercise. In the last two days I've seen headlines from supposedly respected and reputable news outlets (which, by definition, leaves out Faux and its ilk) describing Biden "in crisis", "embattled", "feeble", and "flailing" (good job at being neutral, guys). I've shared this link (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/15/kamala-harris-quit-biden-2024/) to Kathleen Parker's opinion piece from March of this year which appeared to have deservedly died without a whimper, but she at least had the guts to give a public facing front to what's been the mindset of more than a few. When it makes no sense how a very successful president has had such challenging polling and approval numbers, it's because the folks who try to set the agenda have lazily bought into the proxy rather than digging deeper for the uncomfortable truth.

This is another of those times where our country has to come to a serious reckoning about what is fears: is it the black lady, or is it the loss of American Democracy? Our Democratic officeholders need to stop the whispering campaigns that are hurting their electoral chances and get to work making the case against Donald Trump because Biden leaving this race will ensure an unrecoverable chaos because getting rid of Biden is the cover for getting rid of Harris. I can guarantee the easiest way for ALL Democrats to make their election prospects worse is to try to scapegoat and dismiss Kamala Harris. The Kathleen Parker piece should show them that.

Democrats have the best story to tell and should be easily coasting to win all over this country, but they continue to roam in a circle like scared children lost in the woods. Democrats need to stop fighting Democrats (something I've heard just about all my life, and I'm not young) and start fighting the MAGAts, and the press, and the naysayers. The what-ifs being thrown around by "concerned" posters in forums like this need to cease. They do us no good. The bottom line is Joe Biden is the nominee and it's best that he remain the nominee. Although our politicians don't believe it, the American people are smart enough and sophisticated enough to understand the stakes if they're put forward to them. There's a huge amount of dread among Democrats, independents, and disaffected Republicans about the return to a Trump presidency, but how can they have confidence in a party in disarray that can't seem to formulate of a cohesive case for their governing? We need to stop the nonsense and get to work on that.

Please.

This was all settled before that, but the media stopped reporting because of the Milwaukee event. Now they're just playing catch up. Really nothing new except DUers freaking out.

contingency to the point many are saying fuck off to Democrats and that they won't vote if Biden isn't the nominee. One of the worse has been a member for 20 days and has over 746 posts. Where do you think this new member came from and what their agenda is? Is it to encourage outrage and divide us? I suspect so because they sure aren't encouraging thoughtful discussion.
