Who ?
Who would be a Landslide blue wave causing Super candidate ?
Not calling for President Biden to step down I've just been racking my brain to think who could pulverize the rethugs in an election.
OBAMA/SWIFT Ticket perhaps.

(2,248 posts)I'm skeptical he would 'crush' Trump. I think he'd close that gap but I doubt he'd crush him.
brush
(61,033 posts)no contest. Newsom is very eloquent, of prme age for the office and intelligent. Trump is an old, lying buffoon in mental decline.
Self Esteem
(2,248 posts)And Newsom's schtick isn't a guarantee to win over voters in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
But I'm not going to play 'what ifs...'. There is zero evidence Newsom would crush Trump. Just wishful thinking at this point.
brush
(61,033 posts)In a whole campaign, Newsom, Whitmer or Harries, with debates, appearances in all the states, interviews with pundits...an entire campaign, they would all kick the old, lying, felon, and sexual abuser in mental decline's ass.
trump is a mess in person...talking about showerheads that don't flow, sharks, electric boats that don't float, and he'd take the battery and being shocked instead of going with the shark and getting eaten.
Come, the MFer is getting worse by the day...and he would suddenly be the one who is too old.

(2,248 posts)And I think he was beating Newsom by 20 in Nevada.
I don't think people understand how polarizing Newsom is as a candidate. But again: you still haven't shown evidence that Newsom will clobber Trump in a landslide. There's zero evidence of that at this point. Just wishful thinking.

(2,248 posts)Just going off what you want doesn't mean jack. There's zero evidence that Newsom would "absolutely crush" Trump.
brush
(61,033 posts)He destroyed him. My guess is you did not see that debate or you couldn't possibly tnink the in mental decline trump is in any shape to take on Newsom.

(2,248 posts)Hillary destroyed Trump in all three debates in 2016. She certainly didn't crush him.
brush
(61,033 posts)You happy now?
Btw, you can find the Newsom /Desantis debate online because it's pretty obvious you've never seen much of Gov. Newsom at work.
All I said was that Newsom would not "crush" Trump. In the last two elections, Trump has never been crushed. It's pretty clear, based on polling right now, and previous results, that Trump has a floor that will allow for him to fall anywhere between 45-47% of the vote - and none of that equals getting crushed in the election.
brush
(61,033 posts)against the rapidly decline trump who is nowhere near what he was in 2016 or 2020, and he wasn't great then (see James Comey, btw).
But carry on.

(61,033 posts)This trump, that we're seeing right now.
What's considered a landslide...60% to 40%? Well, maybe not that much, but he'd beat trump decisively by running on traditional Dem issues, building the economy from the bottom up and middle out, not that trickle down bs, jobs from rebbuilding the infratructure and womens' rights, and btw, he's not bad to look at, I'd guess that would appeal to some women.
Polybius
(21,900 posts)I love most of his politics, but sadly they just don't sell across the country. I'd vote for him any day if the week, but even I have problems with the toy store gender-neutral bill that he signed. It would not pass here in NY.

(53,193 posts)I think Trump's followers would savage a California governor so badly he'd be lucky to get fifty electoral votes.
And yes, I do understand that the president they used to adore the most before Jabba the Hutt decided to run for office was a California governor.
brush
(61,033 posts)And they sure wouldn't be his, or Whitmer's or Harris' target voters. So if you've watching the rethug convention, turn it off for a while.
And we do outnumber them in case you've forgotten.
He'd campaign on traditional Dem issues, ground-up and middle-out economic growth, no trickle down bs. jobs from nationwide infrastructure projects, medical prescription reduction costs and the HUGE womens' rights issue that rethugs have taken away...the same things that won for Joe Biden in 2020.
And just a reminder, we outnumber them. PLus he's not bad to look at, a plus for some women.
Doesn't sound like you're too familiar with hm as a candidate. Google his debate with that anti-woke, Florida Gov. Desantis from last year. He destroyed him.

Nah.
Two are from califor ia. And I highly doubt that they will do well in flyover country. And Whitmer I have my doubts in a national election.
brush
(61,033 posts)not this situation we are in now where they'd have to take over suddenly for the last four months.
In a whole campaign, Newsom, Whitmer or Harries, with debates, appearances in all the states, interviews with pundits...an entire campaign, they would all kick the old, lying, felon, and sexual abuser in mental decline's ass.

(8,756 posts)Out politics are so polarized and fuelled by both a vapid media and unlimited dark money that I doubt we will ever see landslides anymore.
A large segment of the electorate does not vote on policies, rather it's based on what members of their "political tribe" tells them to do or what kind of propaganda they are exposed to.
Of course many on our side can win but it won't be crushing.

Kamala Harris (President)
Gavin Newsom (Vice President)
This ticket would spectacularly take down Trump, J.D. Vance, and Project 2025.

(894 posts)I also think a Harris-Newsom ticket would turn the polls in their favor once they went into full swing with their campaigning and messaging. Trump, with his despicable character and track record, and Project 2025/Agenda47, with their sinister intentions, would be easy for Harris-Newsom to mine for democratic political gold.

(60,182 posts)Without the incessand media pounding on him, all the while ignoring (twice wasn t enough?) the inadequacies of the Republican ticket, I think Joe would be comfortably leading in most, if not all swing states as well as nationally.

(276 posts)I admit Im not a frequent poster. Im one of those that tend to show up in election years. Like everyone, Im heartbroken about where we are. But were here. If Biden does drop out, Kamala needs to be at the top of the ticket. For VP, Id go with Roy Cooper. Hes a very popular governor in an arguably red state, and is not up for re-election. It could put NC into play. And sadly, I have to say that I think Kamala needs a white male on the ticket. I cant see an all female ticket standing a chance. 😢
