Don't replace Biden without a clear replacement candidate who WILL beat Trump. Harris would very likely lose to Trump. Newsom has a better chance than Harris but I'd prefer Biden.
If Michelle Obama truly won't run, don't replace Biden.

(26,398 posts)...despite having repeatedly said that she has no interest in holding office?
Besides, if she could be persuaded to run, you can count on the MSM immediately spending 100% of their time harping on her complete inexperience plus lack of policy proposals.

(4,625 posts)And maybe she's seen the polls showing clearly that she's the strongest Democratic candidate, and that other candidates, like Harris, will likely lose to Trump.

Those numbers mean nothing when she isnt being actively targeted by the entire right-wing campaign apparatus.

(27,003 posts)"Prior to running for president she had a 66 percent approval rating. She ranked high among the most admired women in the world. She was commended by politicians on both sides on the aisle for her ability to work with Republicans as well as members of her own party. ... By 2014, a year before Hillary announced her intention to run for president, a New York Times/CBS poll found that 82% of Democrats favored Clinton over both Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, and a Quinnipiac poll reported that registered voters in Ohio (yes -- Ohio) chose Clinton over the six likely Republican candidates: Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich. 'If the election were held tomorrow, ' John McCain said, 'Hillary Clinton would most likely be president.'
"But as her friend, and former congresswoman, Ellen Tauscher had warned her before she left the State Department, that would all change once she actually entered the ring. 'The moment you move back into politics,' Tauscher told her, ''you go from 66 to 46 to 26 faster than a split second.' ... It was relentless -- and if you think this is an exaggeration, just take a look at the June 2016 report from Harvard's Shorenstein Center which showed that even when 'scandals' were not involved, 84 percent of Clinton's coverage was negative compared to 43 percent of Trump's and 17 percent of Sanders's. The report notes, 'Clinton's negative coverage can be compared to millions of dollars in attack ads, with her on the receiving end.'"

(3,267 posts)I will support Joe, Kamala, Gavin...any solid Dem, but please DNC et. al. let's do our due diligence on how we get to the Win. And we must also remember the House, Senate and down ballot races. Americans sometimes seem to think the President is the one and only political power (especially during the campaign) who can almost do things by fiat but most of us know that is not even close to reality. Let's play to reality and play to win.

(1,501 posts)People who keep pushing to run seem oblivious to the toll its been taking on him. Hes gotten sick twice now in the past 3 weeks, he is 81 and we are asking him to save the future of the country. The weight of the world is on his shoulders and the stakes could not be higher. I love the guy but he is not Superman.

How about we try realistic solutions instead of these fantasy matchups that won't ever happen?

(8,388 posts)If hypotheticals are your thing, by all means, indulge. As for me, I dont find them constructive or based in reality (Michelle Obama?).
If one is serious about this manipulated crisis, lets evaluate the 3 weeks of evidence calling for Biden to step down. One debate and proprietary polling have not convinced me this is anything more than a PR campaign that benefits RWNJs not democrats. Something is very wrong and I dont think its Joe Biden.

(119,061 posts)many times that she has absolutely no interest in running for any public office - she will poll well. If she were to change her mind and actually do it, those numbers would drop dramatically as soon as the MAGA smears started. But yeah, she's the sparkly unicorn du jour, like Oprah once was, and even that reprobate Michael Avenatti. DU was in love with that dirtbag for a little while.

(487 posts)Michelle doesn't seem the type to be a VP or serve in Kamala's shadow. She's a strong leader. If she was interested in running that is.
