Democratic strategist David Axelrod said early Friday morning that former President Trumps speech at the Republican National Convention was the first good thing thats happened to Democrats in three weeks.
People, Im sure, responded very positively to his appeals to unity that were written on the teleprompter, and then he just ripped the bejesus out of everybody
all his political enemies and so on, Axelrod, also a former Obama adviser, said on CNN.
I have to tell you
Chris Wallace said this, Axelrod said. This is the first good thing thats happened to Democrats in the last three weeks.
Axelrod said Trumps speech really reminded everyone why Donald Trump is fundamentally unpopular outside this room.

(113,963 posts)All this crap going on behind Biden's back-- it is hard to fathom unless we are ALL just not informed about SOMETHING. That said, Peter Baker and NYT are doing all they can to stir up this Shakespearean conspiracy crap.
I'm depressed and I know I'm not alone... Who/what to believe? Based on what I know and observe, I trust my medical judgment and assessment of Biden... I likewise believe that we are one of the most despicably ageist societies on the planet. Lester Holt's interview was so indicative of that.
I will send out my most supportive thoughts and wishes to Joe Biden today and hope that--despite his fully justified resentment at all the betrayal he is experiencing--he will know he is also supported and appreciated by many.

(53,214 posts)Axelrod thinks. I don't think he ever liked Biden even when he was Vice President. His opinion means nothing to me and he would be more helpful if he just kept his mouth shut, at least until after the election.

(113,963 posts)I really don't get it... Jealousy because of Biden's constant access at the time?
Axelrod has an adult disabled daughter with a long difficult history with uncontrolled/poorly controlled epilepsy. His work on improving care for others like her alone should have fostered a close advocacy relationship with Biden, I would have thought...

(53,214 posts)I am so disappointed in him.
I always suspected that some Obama people didn't care for Biden. Awhile back I read Franklin Foer's book The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden's White House and the Struggle for America's Future and the book rather confirmed that hunch.
Of course, most of them didn't want Joe to run in 2016. I know he was going through a really hard time after the death of his son Beau, but I believe if he'd had some encouragement, he would have run.

(25,410 posts)Biden's campaign has been chugging along under the radar as the Republicans alienate more and more voters with their contempt for America's values.
