That was the suggestion a few minutes ago on MSNBC. If that's what Republicans want, here is why, I think: They know that Kamala Harris would not get her choice for a new vice president through the House and Senate. I believe that is subject to confirmation by both the House and the Senate. It would be problematic at best for that nominee to get past this House of Representatives. So, a President Kamala Harris without a vice president for the next five months would mean a) Mike Johnson would be a heartbeat away from the presidency, and b) more importantly, there would not be a Democratic vice president overseeing the certification process of the electoral college votes on January 6, 2025. I don't think there is a high probability of Joe Biden resigning the presidency in the next five months, but then, I didn't think it was likely he would bow out of the race, either. But Joe definitely needs to stay in office and serve out his full term. I want Vice President Kamala Harris overseeing that certification process on January 6, 2025. And of course, I also hope and believe that she will at that time also be the President-elect. My two cents worth.

The fool tools at the lower level have been being picked up, but what we've learned from Smedley Butler is, if there are no consequences for the traitors, no matter how rich they are, they will come back and try again.
What else do they have to do?
Bored rich people do not act well in society.

(5,062 posts)Patty Murray as President Pro Tempore oversees the electoral count, doesn't she?
And anyway, even if that role switches to some Republican senator after the election, there are pretty strict rules about disqualifying electoral votes.
Hopefully, the repairs to the Electoral Vote Count Act would keep imposters from committing sabotage like they did with their fake certifications last time.

(1,067 posts)Johnson called for Biden to resign immediately because his own party forced him out. However you are correct as both houses have to approve the nomination and there is no way in hell that the house will approve any nomination.
The Republicans are not done screwing with Biden. I bet their next move is an attempt to impeach him.

If she becomes President, she will have a day job. Not good if she has to campaign. And she needs lot of time prosecuting Project 2025.

(14,593 posts)... that if Biden is too infirm (or words to that effect) to run for another 4 years, he's probably too infirm to keep the job now. Notwithstanding that that's not how things work in the real world when folks plan to retire, it was obvious that this seemed to be some new "talking point" that Republicans were going to start spouting off about.
