The announcement was a surprise to the Harris camp.
Top 4 names
Gov. Beshear
Sen. Mark Kelly
Gov. Cooper
Gov. Shapiro
Not surprising list but when Jamie speaks I listen.

(14,624 posts)There are worlds of difference between them! You are most likely not from VA or you would know. Warner is a right of center Dem and I only voted for him because of the (D). Can't stand the guy. Tim Kaine is a good guy and the real deal. I don't care whether you like him or not. He still mostly lives in the house where he did in Richmond, belongs to the same mostly-Black Catholic church he always did and sings in the choir when he's home, and is a social justice guy, slightly left of center. His wife is a sweetheart too.

(14,624 posts)I don't think you understand how cordially disliked he is, even among his constituents. We put up with him because he's a Democrat and nobody better has run against him. He's like former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who is the main reason Glenn Dumbkin is governor now.

Look at all the talent we have at the gubernatorial level including battleground states like PA and MI. The last Governor who made it to the White House was Clinton and he wa pretty damned good.
The thing about AGs like Shapiro in PA (he was elected Governor last year) and Governors like Whitmer is they have hands-on experience working with Trump in a crisis and being targeted by him so their critiques not only carry extra weight but are much more interesting to listen to than any DC politician.

-Washington outsider
-Tecnocrat/creative thinker/smart AF
-Reality TV star to piss off Trump
-Would have us winning in a landslide.

(6,439 posts)He would be an interesting choice. He doesn't do much for battle ground states but he's a very successful entrepreneur. And he's quite good in front of the camera. And he's known.
The question is can someone like Mark Cuban be a VP? He's used to being in charge, so he probably wouldn't be interested.

(29,242 posts)Harris is such a political insider, it would be a perfect ticket to bring a well-known outsider.
Every working class white guy in the country knows who he is from his show, or from sports.
