No more uncertainty. A fresh ticket. Taking on Rump.
This is a good day.

(15,909 posts)Beyond that, I think we can rightly trust nearly all DU members to do the right things to defeat Trump, pissed or not.

And yes time to move forward and defeat Trump.
Exactly!

(28,736 posts)The doom was the constant bashing of Biden by Democrats, back and forth stuff, uncertainty, rumors, gossip and people trying to get him to withdraw. It's over. We move on.
But that's about it. Reality will set in regarding all the details in the coming weeks.
I'm pissed of course.
Oh well, Biden's debate is now in the history books etc etc etc. No more talk about "Biden's old age". It all seems so superficial. CBS News now talking about Kamala's skills. The media will find something.

(6,879 posts)What happened to Biden will look like a love-fest now that the media and the big $$ donors feel empowered.
The kingmakers are mad with bloodlust. Im afraid this is going to get ugly unfortunately
LeftInTX
(28,736 posts)I've never seen anything like it. There was tremendous pressure from Democrats who just painted Joe as ugly. The Democrats will get behind Kamala, so that's good. Joe was taking it from both sides.

(1,003 posts)it is simply passing the torch.
The majority of Dem voters wanted Biden to step aside. I believe they saw something at that first debate, and then at his follow up events that let them believe the passing of the torch was needed, while giving all the love in the world to Biden.
Southern Blue
(5 posts)I believe a lot of dems were incredibly disappointed after that debate, but I also believe they were and are mostly still behind the Biden/Harris ticket. Well, until a few hours ago when our primary votes were completely ignored by our party and Biden felt he had to step down.
I'm usually an optimist, but not so much at the moment. May the gods help us!!!

(8,652 posts)so I did not get to vote in Florida. I hope them cancelling primaries will not become a regular thing. The Dem party didnt even announce it. I had to search for that info because I was wondering when the heck was our primary.

(4,985 posts)Until then, all bets are off.
I feel sorry for the more well known, Congressional Democrats who were behind pushing Biden out. If the election doesn't go well, such as we get a majority Republican congress, or we don't win the White House, their poltical careers are over and done.

(11,547 posts)At the end of the day, we knew that Joe was going to do what he thinks is best for the country.
It's a new game. Everyone pull up your socks and tighten your chin strap. We have a championship game to win.

(47,065 posts)For months, maybe years, the MSM has pounded nothing but Biden's age. Then...big surprise...people polled say he's too old. Or maybe the new information that there was a feeding frenzy in the media. Yeah, I guess that's pretty new.

(154 posts)Joe was the best president of my lifetime, and I wanted it to continue.
His performance at the debate rocked my world. I suddenly had doubts that he could win, and the doubts persisted.
I'm ready to go forward. I did my grieving after the ill-fated debate.

(2,404 posts)Has there been an official announcement that Harris is now the nominee? How does that work? And now we have to suffer through how much BS to determine a VP candidate? Who decides? The blackmailers? The MAGAts? Whoever throws the most money around? Do we all get to pretend to vote the primaries again?
I cannot believe the cavalier attitudes toward this colossal fuck up.

(6,498 posts)But, I also said that he knows his own mind and would do what is best for this country. This is his decision and I respect it. I also respect his decision to endorse Kamala Harris. I'm ready to move on.
Just like I was ready to move on when Bernie lost the nomination in '16. I knew then that that orange blob of flesh would destroy our country and I was right then and I am right now.
Let's get this done and quit fighting the last election, so to speak.

(1,361 posts)my vote again. But Ive been disengaged for months now and basically had decided to stay that way until I voted in November. It just became to depressing. Now, Im very excited to have a new ticket in November and H and I are going to start giving again. We were waiting until after the convention before todays announcement.

(10,037 posts)the small chance we could beat Trump is finished. There is no chance Harris will win, so no, not a good day.
