I'm not in good form today, so please forgive me if these are dumb questions...

Is Harris absolutely guaranteed the nomination at the DNC? Realistically, what are the odds that the delegates will nominate someone else or become hopelessly divided?

Again, I'm sorry if these questions aren't very insightful. I've had a severe headache all day and I'm not thinking straight. I don't see this as a day to celebrate, and I fear that without at least some semblance of party unity, no one who wishes well for this country will have anything worth celebrating for a long time...if ever. There's only one person who will benefit from the chaos produced by Democratic Party disunity, and we all know who that is.

2. Technically, no

Right now delegates are pledged, not committed.

But A potential nominee would have to have started taking the bull by the horns yesterday in order to whip up a bunch of delegates in her/his favor by the convention. I guess it’s theoretically possible, but not probable.

Harris will be the nominee.

3. Not absolutely guaranteed but

pretty likely. Joe’s delegates will be free to vote as they choose. Given that Joe has endorsed Harris, the loyal delegates will go with Biden’s wishes. Plus, most of the party appears to be coalescing around her.

And that does appear to be a good sign. A great sign, actually. However, it wasn't too long ago that everyone was seemingly unified behind Joe.

I know this is politics and politicians we're talking about here, so expedience and opportunism are always in play. I'm no babe in the woods. I've been around long enough to know that many career politicians wouldn't throw a life preserver ring to their own mothers if they thought doing so would cost them votes, clout, or donor dough. That said, at what point do any of those who turned on Joe feel obligated to "take one for the team", so to speak?

Again, and maybe it's just my searing headache talking, but I'm having hard time trusting right now. I will never vote for anyone ever again if Kamala Harris goes to the DNC with every expectation of becoming the nominee only to receive a swift kick in the gut by backroom money men and other party interests who might see it as both politically expedient and financially beneficial to throw her under the bus in favor of God knows who else.

And from what I understand, Harris will have access to the Biden/Harris campaign funds.

5. Everyone is endorsing her, including those who people assumed would run for the nom.

The party is rallying behind her in a show of unity. It looks like it's pretty much over, unofficially.

Even if it goes to the convention, President Biden would no doubt ask his delegates to support her at the convention. They wouldn't be required to, but they're loyal to the president. Combined with all of this support, the outcome would likely be the same.

without much division. Those likely to be the biggest competition have already endorsed her.

It's mostly people like Manchin and Kennedy talking about challenging her.

I’m hoping we can move forward to defeat trump and the gop but it’s hard to get enthusiastic right now.

There are pledged, unpledged, and superdelegates.

The plegded made up the lions share of the delegates, and biden had more than enough to clinch the nomination with those alone.

They were hand picked. Presumably most will support harris.

The superdelgates are the elite of the elite. They are the money rakers and blue bloods. Gentiles all. Not likely to be supporters. Some will, but many wont.

Not sure about the unpledged crowd.

But no, no guarantee.

10. I think if these fund raising numbers keep up over the new few days, there will be no way to replace her as the nominee.

The base is clearly enthused by the prospect of POTUS Harris and is opening up their wallets bigly!

Everything that's happened since the debate last month has just been so exhausting. It's definitely time to rally, move forward, but more importantly, focus on what's really of paramount importance here....preventing that orange fascist from ever setting foot inside the WH in any kind of official capacity ever again.

and depressing. Now that Biden has made his decision to step aside, I'm feeling super energenic and optomistic about electing Kamala Harris our next POTUS in November! As are a LOT of my Democratic friends!
