Then she would be running as the first black female president. Im not convinced that she would win (based on primary performance and all the attacks about her and the border). However, wouldnt that give her a better chance?

(9,444 posts)Not in the Constitution that a VP becoming President has to nominate someone as VP. Seat can remain vacant.
Who would preside over the Senate? The Senate pro tempore; in this case - Senator Patty Murray.
(Im guessing this is because office of VP is a nationally elected office. Historians
?)

(11,229 posts)You want President Mike Johnson? There's a reason he's calling for Joe to step down now. He'd be one bullet away from the Presidency.

Johnson is bluffing for the media. More likely, Rethuglicans are shitting themselves in worry that one of their deluded,. closeted masturbators will take a shot at Harris causing a massive surge for her in the polls.

She needs to pick her V.P. and then they'll both be on the ticket at the convention.
If she was put in now, her V.P. would have to be approved and that would NEVER happen....

and he deserves, and is perfectly capable of, finishing his term. I think he will go out on a strong note and boost Kamalas chance of winning.
Plus, now she can focus on winning, and he can focus on running the country.

(81,180 posts)That is a new job and could be a bit overwhelming to run the country and campaign.
She needs her entire focus to be on the campaign.
She is on a tight time line. And has to choose a VP.
Also it is not respectful to Joe to have to leave the WH before the end of his term.
This is not fair to him and sends a wrong message for a number of reasons.

2. Outside parties would try to create events where she would have to make difficult choices or be blamed for things.
