The most successful single term President in history?

And by "single term President," I mean a President who was elected and served a full single term in office. I'm not including Presidents who were elected but didn't complete their first term (e.g. JFK) or Presidents who ascended to office from the Vice Presidency and then served a subsequent single elected term in office (e.g. Truman, LBJ).

James Polk was credited for significant expansion of US territory.

I strongly believe Jimmy Carter's accomplishments were grossly underrated and his legacy as President will continue to grow even after he passes.

But can it be argued that Joe Biden will ultimately be seen as the most successful single term President in US history? As someone who was able to right the ship after the chaos of Trump and the COVID pandemic?

Certainly I think it ultimately is contingent upon Kamala Harris being elected and carrying on what he started. Because if Trump is elected, we'll easily slip back into a fiery dystopia and who knows if we'll make it out this time.

Not sure you can put him above FDR but he’s been a fabulous President. I put him a little ahead of Obama even though I’m eternally grateful to him because the ACA saved my life.

3. Well, to his credit he did sign the ADA into law.

Which was objectively a good accomplishment.

Beyond that, his legacy was being mired in recession most of his term, squandering a huge Gulf War polling bump, and Dubya.
