NY Times: "Biden Made a Courageous Choice. Democrats Must Seize the Opportunity."

President Biden’s decision to exit the 2024 presidential election is a fitting coda for a man whose life has been devoted to public service. Mr. Biden has served the nation well as its president. By agreeing to step down when his term ends in January, he is greatly increasing the chance that his party is able to protect the nation from the dangers of returning Donald Trump to the presidency.

Majorities of Americans have consistently said they did not believe Mr. Biden could lead the nation for another term, citing longstanding fears about his age and fitness that have only grown in recent months. Had he remained at the top of the ticket, he would have greatly increased the likelihood of Mr. Trump retaking the presidency and potentially controlling both houses of Congress as well. Mr. Biden himself has consistently warned that specter presents a profound threat to the nation and its democratic traditions.

Mr. Biden has now done what Mr. Trump never will: He has placed the national interest above his own pride and ambition.

Mr. Biden’s departure gives Democrats an opportunity to refocus public attention from questions about the president’s fitness to the manifest moral and temperamental unfitness of Mr. Trump — and to the dangers of rearming him with the considerable powers of the presidency.

That the NYT was NOT behind forcing out Biden?

What about his age???? All the times they ignored Trump's
age and focused on Biden's. Kamala will soon turn 60, what about that age group? Is that ok with the NYT?

The NYT's owners, editors and reporters are backstabbing corporate idiots paid for by Russian trolls.

They'll soon start complaining about Kamala. The Pedo Trump crowd just hasn't shifted their payments there yet. It will come.

NYT is a rightwing rag now. Just like all other right wing media.

I must have missed the editorial they wrote about TRUMP being too old and unfit for the presidency -- especially now that he is now the age that Biden was when he started saying that Biden is too old...

First they trash him then thank him for stepping aside. The ONLY reason there was so much attention on the President while the convicted felon got a free pass is because rags like this one pursued the narrative causing donor and then "leadership" to question Joe's viability in the race. So glad I canceled my subscription to this biased rag. Their assessment, "had he remained at the top of the ticket he would have greatly increased the chance of Mr. Trump retaking the Presidency and potentially both houses of congress". I call BS. I do not believe a binary choice between a felon and a decent man would have turned out that way. It is too bad we won't ever know for sure. In any case I hope all this action proves worth the cost of disenfranchising the grass roots base of 14 million primary voters. I will continue my monthly donation to Biden/Harris however my trust and enthusiasm are gone.
