My Uncle Donald Trump Told Me Disabled Americans Like My Son Should Just Die
By Fred C. Trump III

Fred C. Trump III is the author of All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way.
...
When William was 9 years old, Lisa and I met with Donald and a medical fund was created for William's care by the Trump Family, a fund that was crucial to our ability to support him. ...
Soon thereafter, I was up at Briarcliff Manor, home of the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester, N.Y. Donald happened to be there.
He was talking with a group of people. I didnt want to interrupt. I just said hi on my way through the clubhouse. I called him later that afternoon, and he answered.
I got him up to speed on what Eric had told me. I said Id heard the fund for William was running low, and unfortunately, the expenses certainly were not easing up as our son got older. In fact, with inflation and other pressures, the needs were greater than theyd been. Were getting some blowback from Maryanne and Elizabeth and Ann Marie. We may need your help with this. Eric wanted me to give you a call.
Donald took a second as if he was thinking about the whole situation.
I dont know, he finally said, letting out a sigh. He doesnt recognize you. Maybe you should just let him die and move down to Florida.

(53,214 posts)So many stories that we've heard since Trump entered politics were common knowledge, yet the MSM often couldn't be bothered to report it. Shoot, Trump frequently told us outright who he was. He bragged about not paying taxes, cheating the system, and being a sexual predator.
Meanwhile, the mainstream media wouldn't let go of Hillary's emails as if that was the scandal of the century. Then the constant drumbeat about Joe Biden's age and health, while there are countless stories on Trump that rarely see the light of day.
There is very little about Trump that isn't known and you can be sure if that little bit were revealed, the NYT and Washington Post probably would ignore it.

disability. (Not to mention an elected Harris delegate from San Francisco!) My mother had sworn she would never vote for him after he mocked the disabled reporter...but anybody still a Republican no longer has two principles to rub together, so she not only voted for him, but even flew 3000 miles to attend his inauguration. My sister went full MAGA early on, and she became deliberately personally insulting (on FB) about the college my older daughter and I went to (Berkeley) and California (where we live)... etc.. Like, "I would be ashamed if any of my daughters wanted to attend that snowflake school" (as if they could get in). I no longer have anything to do with her.
My mom helped politically mentor Kevin McCarthy (and my sister was friends with him growing up), while my older daughter has been politically mentored by Christin Pelosi, and given amazing opportunities (like being appointed to the National Council on Disability) by Nancy Pelosi (and my son was an intern in her office during one college summer break)...so you can imagine how pleased I was to see My Kevin go down in flames. (Especially after what a POS he was in not providing any public words of support for the Pelosi family, or any words of condemnation regarding political violence, when Paul Pelosi was so brutally attacked.)

He is a mob boss, but he is their mob boss.
He is the alpha male.
He breaks the normative rules of society to get what he and they want.
They are fine with it because the ends justify the means.
That is what is so difficult for us to accept. There will be no "lightbulb moment" for his cult.

In the end humans seem very capable of situational ethics. It is likely linked to the lizard brain and the evolutionary biology of survival.
All of the noteworthy autocrats understood this, especially Hitler.
There is a reason why the sick fuck absorbed Mein Kampf as nightly bedside table reading.

(3,921 posts)It is those 'others' who will lose their rights, not those on the side of the authoritarian leader, whose purpose it is to restore the 'correct' order.
orwell
(8,003 posts)...and eventually misguided as those 'others' always grow in number as the authoritarian becomes more paranoid.

(12,533 posts)She has fought for every breath since the day she was born. She's doing well now but has a long road ahead. Health care cuts would be a death knell for a patient like Cassandra.
There's no way in hell I'd risk her fate or future to a bunch of snarling wolves.
Cassandra is one of millions in the same position--disabled, vulnerable, future candidates for the scrap heap in an authoritarian state where a world of givers and takers take on a far more grim conclusion.
Not on Nan's watch!
