Just looking at age as it's been a big issue this year.

Ray Cooper is 67 years old. If VP Harris hold the presidency for 8 years, he'll be 75 years old. We'd have the same ageism issues that we've had with Biden if he wanted to run for president. He'd be 79 at the end of 4 years, 83 at the end of 8 years.

~~~~~~~~~~
Josh Shapiro is a great guy. But only Gov for 2 years and Pa needs him. In a great age bracket only 51. In eight years, he'd only be 59, a good age to run for President.
Personally, I do not have an issue that he is of the Jewish faith, but others may have as VP Harris's husband is also Jewish and the conflict in Israel and Gaza.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Mark Kelly 60. Good age but has only been in politics and a US Senator for 4 years. Won a special election in 2020 and was reelected to a full term for 4 years in 2022. No other political experience. Would be 68 at end of a 2 term Harris presidency.

Great background. Retired from both the US Navy and the NASA's astronaut corps in October 2011 with many commendations, medals and accomplishments.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So let me offer another consideration.
What about Andy Beshear, Gov of Kentucy? He's currently serving his 2nd term. 46 years old, would be 54 at the end of a Harris 2 term presidency. His Lt Govenor is Jacqueline Coleman, a 42 year old woman who could fill Beshear's remaining term and then run for Kentucky Gov in 2027.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So yes I'm looking ahead 8 years, (I may not even be around then) but I don't think we do enough of that.

Just sharing the thoughts I've had and welcome any comments.

In terms of governing. Mature years does not mean they are unqualified to govern.
It is the person and their experience that matters unless you are hosting a beauty contest.

Of course. Age and experience adds a lot to an individual's talent and expertise. I am not insinuating people that are older, over 70 are not capable of high level functioning. I am saying someone entering a critical position at a senior level, with a possible 8 year demand on them, may be unable to maintain the high level of functioning over the succeeding years they had when they entered the position . A senior age should play a role in the decision making, just as it should be for a young person being considered for a top level position like President.

if he can guide Kentucky to some sanity with his administration the people there might moderate in several years. Maybe in 5-10 years we could have a purple state.

Sometimes taking good dems out of red states - where they could have the most impact - is not the best strategy even though the national party likes to do that.

From what I hear and read he's very effective. Not sure how good the Lt Gov is. But it would be groundbreaking to have a female Gov in Ky and he would be a very effective VP for Kamala Harris and perhaps President when her terms are up.

Long game and how we look in 8 years after a two term amazingly successful Administration. I think a Harris Admin will be as successful as Biden's. I just do.

This is why for me? Tim Walz needs to be in the equation too. He's 59. He's also not afraid to change when he knows he's been wrong. Example - Gun Rights and George Floyd.

Education and Health care are key issues for him - and we need that in Washington DC.
