Election Day a federal holiday

President Biden should declare Election Day a holiday for federal workers. I don’t believe he can declare a national holiday without Congress but as head of the executive branch, he could declare Election Day a day off for all federal employees of executive agencies. That’s a hell of a lot of voters.

I've planned my syllabus for Election Day so that students will be able to go and vote. The lecture will be video recorded in advance and they have a week to download it. My hope is that faculty across the country consider that as an option if it facilitates student access to voting.

... that should and could end immediately if we wanted it to.

It would be much more sensible to hold elections on a Sunday like Germany and many other countries do.

Retail workers are "lucky" if they get Thanksgiving & Christmas Day off.
