14. I vacillate between Cooper and Kelly

Roy Cooper -- reputation for reaching across divides on kitchen table issues. Something much needed. Term limited so no incumbent office put at risk.

Mark Kelly -- reputation for communicating effectively on border security and sensible gun control (a gun guy himself). Those are areas we desperately need a stronger national message. Reservation about putting Senate seat at risk in 2026. Who doesn't love an astronaut?

I'm sure there are more pluses and minuses, but that's my distillation.

10. Roy Cooper has been an excellent governor for my state of NC. He was a calming force at the height of the COVID crisis.

He has a soothing demeanor that comforts both Democrats and Republicans. It would be great to see if his presence on the ticket could put NC in play again as we did in 2008.
