Biden should have given this speech a year agoThis is the speech President Joe Biden should have given a year ago.
In a barely 10-minute address to the nation from behind the Resolute Desk Wednesday night, Biden put a bow on his decision to abandon his cratering reelection campaign.
Biden, still recovering from Covid, spoke haltingly and at times seemed to slur his words sometimes repeating sentences with the words rearranged a bit. Even when boasting of his administrations accomplishments, there was a mournful tenor in his voice. He looked exposed.
Apparently, MSNBC doesnt want Kamala to be the Nominee...
If Biden had given this speech a year ago telling members of his own party to vote for someone else and thanking Americans for their faith in him hed have done far less damage to his administrations credibility, and he would have enabled a competitive primary process.

(15,359 posts)They have to counter her right now and if they fuck up, no time to recover. It might be by accident, but this may have unfolded at just the right time.
I was halfway scared if Trump had something happen earlier to make him drop out that republicans would have enough time to get someone else up and running.
The entire year would have been a shit show with everybody (many) trying to figure out how to leap-frog Kamala without alienating a major voting bloc. Itś a tad late to tell them to go sit in the back of the bus, ya know ?
The right does not have a monopoly on racism and sexism.
Fuck... the dude just did one of the hardest things in the world. And did it with grace and humility.
They wait 5 minutes and put this shit out ?
Grrr...

Biden pointed his delegates to her with his endorsement.
It was very efficiently done and being ratified by acclimation.
Nothing whatsoever to feel defensive about.
Such accusations originate from disgruntled Trump supporters who know they have lost the election.

(12,412 posts)Were at that bridge to the future, now. Look at the other ticket, featuring a 78-year-old former president and a 39-year-old senator with less than two years of experience in office. Trumps decision to pick Sen. JD Vance is MAGAs passing of the torch. And if they win on Election Day, this country could be forever changed in a terrible way.
We cant know yet what will happen in November. But a few weeks ago, Biden seemed almost certainly on a path to a crushing defeat. Instead, his early exit means there is now a much better chance that his work can and will be continued and his legacy not destroyed.
