(115,453 posts)Something the Democratic Party could use, in my opinion.
I like him. He isn't my top choice, but he is good.

(10,372 posts)And -- even worse -- in trying to kiss their ass to gain their support that never came, he tossed aside other staunchly Democratic groups under the bus and often railed against some of the most fundamental tenets to our party.
In short, he happily hurt Democrats and the Democratic brand in an effort to help himself -- and he still lost.
He can stay wherever he has been.

(47,463 posts)He certainly can't help win a state of OH, since he lost Senate election to Vance.

(40,765 posts)He was my congressman. Take my word for it, he is a good guy. He had the impossible task of running for a statewide election as a Dem in a very red state. Not so sure he had tons of $. Biden is unpopular in Ohio. Having campaign events with Joe wouldnt have helped Tim and probably would have even made things worse. He had to try to appeal to independents. Joe understood this back then and wasnt offended.

(47,463 posts)He is not going to help win OH since he couldn't win his own race.

(3,785 posts)Young co-sponsored the CHIPS act with Schumer so money for Mayor Thom's campaign was hard to come by to say the least. McDermott campaigned in every one of the 92 counties in IN TWICE, Young hardly left DC or his house. Refused all debate challenges. It was actually a pretty close race until the NRA dropped like 15 million into Youngs war chest so he could blast the airwaves the last 45 days of an off cycle election. You'd of thought the mayor of the city next door to mayor Pete's (and the 2 know each other well), a Navy Vet, raised in N CA, would've gotten a little more help. While I'm not accusing the party of anything, you are so correct. If you're going to run for Senate as a Democrat in OH or IN you better bring the biggest guns you got on your own and not expect a whole lot of help. And you can't, I repeat CAN'T run without that huge war chest, and you HAVE to run as a moderate Democrat at minimum because the repukes have so unfairly gerrymandered both states heavily in their favor. The big money goes elsewhere. Maybe it should I guess, maybe? Regardless, we get left in the dust and told to move out of our red trailer park infested hell holes (yes, my state has been described that by someone on DU who "drove through" it).
This election may go over 10 billion dollars spent up and down the ticket. It makes me vomit.
The big money has to go away period.
