The FBI also said in a statement Thursday that investigators continue to examine bullet fragments and other evidence in the attack on Trump at his Pennsylvania rally this month, but that the agency has always considered the shooting an attempted assassination of the former president.
The bureau issued the statement in response to questions about FBI Director Christopher Wrays testimony on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, in which he said theres still some question about whether Trump was hit with a bullet or shrapnel.
Questions about Trumps wound have stoked political backlash. Trump has said he took a bullet for democracy, and his campaign pushed back on any implication otherwise. Anyone who believes this conspiracy bullsh*t is either mentally deficient or willfully peddling falsehoods for political reasons, Trump adviser Steven Cheung told CNN.

Doesn't feel good, does it? When you're the conspiracy theory, huh?

(1,097 posts)In other words, release the full medical records from Butler Hospital, not just some BS letter from a drunk.
The longer they refuse to release the medical records, the more likely it is that he was hit by shrapnel and not a bullet.

(1,097 posts)My first two reactions were there is a shooting and something other than a bullet hit the rapist/felon/fraud.
He just did not react like omeone would if they got shot with a bullet.

(58,374 posts)The shard theory doesnt require a conspiracy. Certainly the internet is replete with conspiracy theories about the shooting, by folks on both the left and the right, but I haven't seen anyone on DU say it was "Hollywood" or that there were "2 shooters."
Trump appointee Christopher Wray told Congress on Wednesday that it was either a bullet or "shrapnel." Then ensued a meltdown by the GOP over that statement, since they built their whole convention around Trump being hit by a bullet, in order to affirm his hagiography that he "took a bullet for democracy." That precipitated a 1-sentence statement by the FBI issued on Friday saying, What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subjects rifle."
A "bullet fragment" or bullet shard IS shrapnel. The Oxford English Dictionary defines shrapnel as "fragments of a bomb, shell, or other object thrown out by an explosion." It is not known if the FBI statement was based on new information, but it is consistent with Wray's earlier statement.
That seemed to calm Trump and the GOP, since they believe that affirms their "Trump took a bullet" talking point.
The shard theory, as expressed by folks on DU, is based on logically looking at the evidence available and expressing their opinion about what hit Trump. I cited that evidence to you in another thread, and you resorted to over the top snark, condescension and insults. Trump being hit by a bullet fragment or shard makes a lot more sense than that Trump was "grazed" by a full velocity, intact AR-15 bullet, given what we know about the velocity and damage pattern characteristics of AR-15 bullets. But I am not stalking you from thread to thread to argue with you, insult you, nor am I posting OPs about it. You have a right to your opinion, as do the rest of DUers.
Please stop insulting your fellow DUers. Save your insults for Republicans.

(114,763 posts)against Rubio, Cruz, and Clinton never received the attention it needed when it came up during the David Pecker testimony.
Media never really gave that issue the scrutiny it required.

(55,334 posts)Since an AR-15 bullet wouldn't make that wound, maybe Trump's ear wound came from friendly fire--not from secret service for, but from the angels God sent down to protect him. So maybe an angel's wing just grazed his ear and--upon touching Trump's skin--left a big burn mark.
