(866 posts)He seems like the type that will go down with the ship rather than admit he made a mistake with such an important decision.

after the grandiose announcement or Haley for accepting it if asked.
These folks are clearly mentally challenged.

(14,938 posts)I forget the name of his $$$ buddy...anyways, tRump is dead weight and Vance will stay because they want Vance to sit in WH...tRump will be forced out even if elected

(131,217 posts)so that would make it even harder for him to admit he made a mistake. Anyhow, many of Vance's qualities that we find weird and repulsive are considered virtues in Trumpworld. He's arrogant, misogynistic, hateful, and wears makeup. He's perfect.

(17,802 posts)Just steal thunder.
It would just be a simple announcement, that he has lost the faith of tsf and the party, and he is doing it for the good of the country.
Tsf will then choose either a hard core magat or ivanka. Maybe flynn.
IF. Not saying it will happen.

(36,826 posts)I don't see any upside for her - right now she will at least retain some support from the anti Trump wing of the party and Trumpers would find a way to blame her for a Trump loss.

(12,785 posts)My understanding is that tRump and Vance are locked in, only death, extreme illness or injury can remove them from the ballot now.
This was the beauty of Joe waiting until they were locked in before dropping out of the race. tRump is stuck with his choice.
If there's a way to drop Vance from the ticket, educate me.

(131,217 posts)and the ticket had been officially nominated. Technically, Eagleton withdrew, he wasn't removed involuntarily. I don't know what the party's rules about such things were at that time, but nobody challenged it.

(24,434 posts)If your party is in denial, they are losing, and the longer they stay in denial, the more assured they will be to lose.
Doesn't mean you can't stay positive or be rah rah, but there must be a sober acceptance of the facts to have a chance to change the momentum. Vance is a disaster for the GOP, he brought nothing to the ticket even under the best circumstances. And now, with Harris he brings even less. He's a liability and will drag Trump down.
And another bit of denial I am seeing from Trump's side now too is the polls narrative they're pushing. 'We expect the excitement of the Harris nomination will put her up in the polls, but that will even out before the election." Harris is probably at her low point polling right now. She's got a natural boost coming as she gets out there more. Every show will want her on. Her every move will be followed and covered. Plus she's going to get the VP boost Trump didn't get when she picks one. And the late Democratic Convention is going to boost her further. So basically, the next month solid she will see a big boost in the polls. Then the GOP will go full poll truther on us.
I don't think people are accounting fully for the millions of voters who were begging for any choice that wasn't Biden or Trump. Those people got one and I think they'll accept it and stick with it. Bill Maher should be interesting this weekend.
All that being said, it has been Dems that were in denial before the last week. Biden was getting beat clearly and there was no path left to victory. It was Dems that were poll truthers. Now I still think the polls are liely off in favor of Trump, but it's not a massive error of the several points it would have taken for Biden to have a chance.
