So much time passed...

(743 posts)That is along time for a welfare check for someone possible in distress.
Wonder if an ambulance was dispatched first?
bigtree
(94,671 posts)....I thought too much time had already passed when I made the call from the time of the post, maybe 10 minutes.
Shit.

Wish someone who's experienced something like this would talk about it a bit.

(15,593 posts)Luckily Kozar made his call for help when a lot of people were up and aware.
I was the shift supervisor at the desk once, sitting by the phone with constant calls from distraught people after a horrifying event at work.
It's stressful; you're always second - guessing yourself , especially if you took charge and sent everyone home; calling others to tell them not to come in, and having to deal with preparing the next shift and dealing with management.
You did well, he's in an ambulance and hopefully someone from the VA nearby can get to him from the hospital.

(94,671 posts)...just a few simple truths, but it helped a lot to hear them.
Right on point, and I really appreciate that.

(495 posts)Well, now that we know the address, let's send a flood of cards and letters down to Chiefland. Forums are great, but it's comforting to have a box of cards and letters that you can read whenever you need to know that other people care.

(15,593 posts)I don't know enough about him personally to be able to direct their outreach to him properly. There are VA programs that could help, especially if he had legal guardianship of Lil bit.

(9,938 posts)The won't let you starve, I'm sure. ( Smiling at you) get some rest and let them help. Tease the nurses and smile when you can. Usually they dote on older men. Be well.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
