Yes, perhaps it's my fault for turning on MSNBC, but I do enjoy parsing biased messages and they give ample opportunity for that.
On Friday I believe Ari (I know many can't stand him) had on Carville (I know many can't stand him either). Carville who had been vocal about concerns of Biden's age was now vocal over concerns about the excitement over VPOTUS' de facto nomination. Instead of reflecting on the excitement as a positive, he suggested that the campaign was so drunk on joy that they would be unprepared for vicious Republican attacks to come. "Duh icepicks ahh comin'" he said as if VP Harris who has been called a DEI hire since long before we knew the rapist crapped his pants with regularity, is completely unaware of how the party of white nationalists work.
Of course, how would Carville know how the campaign and the party are preparing as he just sits in front of his computer waiting for a spot on Ari. I was quite disappointed. I know there must have been a time when Carville knew that excitement around a campaign was literally money in the bank, but that Carville is gone apparently. He complained about Biden dragging down the party's chances and now he's complaining about excitement over the new nominee. I thought perhaps he's selectively remembering how the Harris campaign went in 2019, but this ain't 2019 and she now has the entire party operation behind her. Not to mention her capacity for growth. There's still time for Carville to get on board. Not holding my breath.
Then on Saturday MSNBC did a cute little report on what this black woman needs to do to get the acceptance of white republicans who won't vote for Trump (my framing of the segment). There were comments from nerver-trumpers like "one thing I don't like about her is I don't know anything about her." WTF? Another commenter said "if she chose a running mate like Liz Cheney I'd support her." WTF? Never gonna happen.
That was the "cross-section" of never-trumpers they spoke with. They didn't talk to any republicans who have already committed to voting for the Democrat in this cycle of which there are definitely enough to find for comment. I wanted to puke. It was a segment that seemed to have no purpose than to drag VPOTUS.
As I explained at the top, I enjoy parsing lousy coverage that's tainted with hidden bias. I'll be back watching tomorrow I'm sure.

(113,927 posts)Ari has his own history with RE: to SOME of his accomplished female guests from the past and some rumors that similar issues posed a big problem between him and his prior wife (who divorced in 2017). Then there are the R-leaning/sympathetic hosts.
Before anyone tells us just to turn it off or change the channel, I can assure you that I do so for the worst offenders, but the $$ I pay to get MSNBC access certainly gives me a right to express my opinion on their coverage (and I do communicate with them for the worst abuses, which likely goes nowhere, but...)

(4,546 posts)I do want MSNBC in my channel lineup for some of those later blocks in particular, but that early crowd is a bunch of amateurs. The rapist is like an asteroid headed for Earth, but none of those chumps wants to treat it as such. Their view seems to be "if enough people want the asteroid it must be legit."

(4,546 posts)He was complaining about the placement of nonconservative women and non-whites on the Supreme Court which he described as Affirmative Action. His justification was that they weren't as qualified as white men because "they didn't have the same opportunities."
But somehow Buchanan thinks conservative women and non-whites are just as qualified as white men. That's because those conservatives defend the preservation of power for those who already hold it, rich white men. It seems what really makes you "unqualified" or a "DEI hire" in the minds of white men like Buchanan is if you support expanding rights unconditionally to all Americans. It's not really about qualification. It's about control.

(3,831 posts)"needs to do" on during Alex Witt's time by any chance? Saw a bit of the morning show and then Ali Velshi. Nothing after that. These suggestions are irritating. I think I heard Susan DelPercio with her pick for VP...then I went back to reading. She's still a Republican..
How did ya guess.
What I don't get is someone like DelPercio KNOWS WHO'S ON THE SHORT LIST! But she still has the gaul to think that Kamala Harris needs to listen to HER. Maybe Susan needs to go back to working for Rudy.

(4,546 posts)is a known known. This isn't Harris' first rodeo. She knows how attacks work and she knows elections are tough. She knows how fox news and that filth operate. She knows what Hillary Clinton went through. She knows what Barack Obama went through. And so does everyone working on her campaign. I'm sure on some level Carville knows this, but does he know that you can simultaneously be excited AND ready at the same time? Will she even be allowed to make a victory speech on election night or will Carville deem that as "too excited"?
