"SNIP............

“When Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz showed up on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” last week to blast Donald Trump and JD Vance as “weird” — part of a recent media blitz — the line of attack quickly gained traction among Democrats,” Politico reports.

“Key among them was de facto presidential nominee Kamala Harris, who days later started using the same word in her campaign messaging against the GOP ticket, including at a fundraiser in Massachusetts on Saturday.”

“The simple phrase quickly highlighted why Walz — a popular two-term Midwestern governor, former congressman, military veteran and former public school teacher — had suddenly landed on Harris’ short list of prospective running mates.”

of the last 40 years of the Republican economies. He basically said in 5 words (which I can't remember) people are suffering because of GOP policies, not democratic ones.

I think? It might be a reference to the movie "Wag the Dog." At least that's what came up shen I googled just now. But I haven't seen that movie, so I'm just guessing.

While it wouldn't bother me at all if he's the choice, some voters might question why this is a "West Coast ticket". Frankly, I think it'd be kinda refreshing, but it seems to me something more balanced, from another timezone, might be the better pick.

And it's not like we don't have one of those "embarrassments of riches" in evidence here. There's a lot to like in every one of 'em.

We don't have a coast (at least not until California falls into the sea). We're not in the same time zone (AZ is Mountain, CA is Pacific).
AZ is a border state.

I had an opportunity to work in New York City and Washington DC, and the “New York bias” was definitely a thing. Big and powerful. If you were west of the Mississippi, it was like maybe you came from Mars.

Articulates a progressive message really well while still being an everyman. Experience as a governor and as a representative in Minnesota.

The George Floyd riots in Minneapolis may be an issue to contend with. Walz handled that situation very well, but you know how Republicans are. The "Democrat-run cities are unsafe" narrative is a torrent of bullshit we're going to have to keep listening to. This shouldn't be a concern, but Walz and Harris will need to have an excellent answer on this topic already lined up.

So someone who misses that aspect of Mark Kelly's resume can take that to heart. I know it's not the same as Kelly, who saw combat during the Persian Gulf, but it's still important.

And that's not just because I am a Midwesterner myself. I just think it's good for the veep slot to be filled by someone from a different part of the country than the person on the top of the ticket.

Of course, someone from the east coast or the south would also fill that bill. But I realize I probably am a little bit biased in favor of the Midwest.

Except please leave IL Governor JB Pritzker out of it. His name keeps coming up, snd I'm like "Noooo, you can't have him!" I'm just kidding, and I think Kamala should pick whoever she wants, but I really would like to keep him for a while yet, if possible.

I had never heard of him until a week ago when his name was floated as a potential VP pick.

VP Harris needs to pick someone to the right of her politically, who's a male and who has better name recognition.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but this is a must-win election and we have to use every tactic to win, including balancing the ticket with someone who will appeal to the moderates.

VP picks of both parties have often been underwhelming. We need a rock star ticket who will appeal to the widest possible audience right now, and not a VP pick who we'll have to expend precious resources and - worst of all - time to educate the electorate about.

...and found a few videos and read some articles. He's totally awesome. I get it.

But, Dems would have to get the MSM to put him on TV every day from now til the election to get lesser-engaged voters familiar enough with him to motivate them to vote.

We're less than 100 days away from either Armageddon or euphoria. I personally don't think this is the time risk Armageddon with long, drawn-out introduction process.

If Kamala picks him, then he'll have my full-throated support. I'm just thinking tactics at this point. We have to win.

the midwest. I'm not nearly as big a fan of Shapiro as I am of Walz. I'm OK with Kelly, but would like someone younger. Buttigieg is good. Bashear OK.

It will be good when she chooses because then this speculation will mercifully end and we can begin ramming the 2025 Project, Vance's cat ladies and statement that incest and rape are inconvenient, and Trumpy's 34 convictions, adjudicated rapist status and 'beautiful Christians who only need to vote just once more and will never need to do it again because he will have it fixed' down the collective GOP throat. Roll over the right wing Nazis, Klansmen, Christian Nationalists and all the rest of the crazies and chase them back under the slimy rocks where they belong.

Harris is going to win big time, and it will be a big blue woman and minority fueled blue tsunami. She's all over tik tok, instagram and the rest of social media. The corporate-owned media will not be able to control the narrative, though the Wall Street greed-lizards are desperately hoping they and their billionaire puppet masters can. They are pulling out all the stops but Kamala is leaving them in the dust.
