this election, the talk will start from the gop inside to persuade Maga to start their own party. if they can convince them, they'll turn around and marginalize them over the next years. If they don't, they know they won't win too many elections for the next 2 or 3 cycles, or until trump strokes out.

I have a hard time believing the MAGA's will comply with this request.
And may make the GOPers start their own new party.

The big test is going to be once Trump is gone.

So the moderates will have steal the conservative label, then start referring at all interviews that the original gop is the trump party. Mr. ego will probably be for it actually, helping this cause with his own stupidity. I have a feeling the DNC would fight a proxy war against Maga through this new party. offering behind the scenes cash to help assure Maga is dissolved.

11. I've thought about this, and come to the following:

If they want to argue a position of smaller govt and the utility of free markets, I'm fine with that AS LONG AS THE STARTING PLACE IS OBJECTIVE FACTS (I.E., climate change is real and humans are the cause). If they end up there, then I'd agree that a center right party can be useful to democratic dialog and governance.
Otherwise no, this country does not need a republican party, as there are and will be enough moderates in our own tent to act as a counter balance.
But that's ALL on them.
