The shooter followed the sniper team into the parking lot.
How would he know to do that?
Thomas Cooper left his car near team sniper. The snipers thought it suspicious.
Was it suspicious enough for the snipers or cops to check the inside of the shooter's car-- to see what might be in the interior of the car--during the 1 and 1/2 hours when they were keeping an eye on the kid...

Someone followed our lead and snuck in and parked by our cars just so you know, the text from an officer read. A follow-up message said that Crooks was about 50 yards from the rallys exit, at a picnic table. Two other counter-snipers responded with a thumbs up emoji and a Roger that.
Crooks had moved by 5:10 p.m., however. The Times reported hed then positioned himself below a local sniper team who who were upstairs in a warehouse owned by AGR Internationalthe very building Crooks eventually perched himself atop of and fired at Trump from.
While Crooks waited there, an officer texted pictures of him
Wow what an unfortunate co-incidence.

(4,964 posts)Before Trump took the stage, the loudspeakers blared the Lee Greenwood song over and over. The crowd was revved up. I think that it was at this time that Crooks walked back to his vehicle and retrieved his rifle.
I am surmising, of course. I can not point to any reports to back up my theory.

(697 posts)I'm sure the pros at the Secret Service warned him repeatedly about all these rallies and how dangerous they are. I'm sure he cut corners and reduced security so he could get the narcissistic supply he needs from adoring MAGAs, and as a result, Crooks was able to get in.

(9,056 posts)but apparently waited for over an hour and then one guy thought to tell the SS according to the article. "It wasnt until 5:38 p.m. that, over text, one of the counter-snipers suggested that someone should alert the Secret Service". That included time during which the one local sniper cop reported that he saw the kid aim a range finder at the stage. Wow almost as good a job by the locals as the school in Texas.

The same ABC News report** said local sniper Gregory Nichol, of the Beaver County Swat Team snapped the photos of Thomas Crooks.
He took the pictures and forwarded them to a command. And then they don't know what command did with that information.
The local team was suppose to have a meeting with secret service before the event. Some local sniper said the meeting didn't happen.

(9,056 posts)what a cluster!! I wonder how much of what went on or didn't as far as his detail was controlled by the Orange Ruski. He seems to have made them like they stand down when at Mar-Ugh-Ghastly. All kinds of people wandering in and out and nobody knows how they got in or what they're doing there.

And Trump would have been a martyr. Which, I think, is what he has always wanted.

(2,014 posts)The republican's should support this second amendment shooter. That is what they are asking for. They want people to have guns so they shoot to wound or murder other people. That is the only purpose of a gun. IMHO.

But the shooter had to have a vehicle to get to the site, which was about 40 miles away from his mom and dad's house.
Or someone drove him from mom's house to the rally.
There's a picture of a bike with backpack and gear, a bike that might have been the shooters.
Just trying to keep track of how he got to the site.
ON EDIT:
ABC News sat down with Beaver Country Swat team. It one version of the report, gave the shooter's timeline:
11:00 am Shooter arrived at rally site.
1:30 pm shooter returns to his parent's house, grabs the AR-15 gun, tells parents he is going to the gun range.
Somewhere in this story, the parents call the cops, worried that their son is missing. Meaning he never showed up at the gun range?
3:45 shooter returns to the rally site.
ME: He returns and follows local snipers into site, either on bike or by vehicle.
Shooter flies drone for 14 minutes. why wasn't there a large geofence put around the site, to help prevent drones from flying?
Shooter climbs on AC unit, small shed, gets onto roof. He traverses several roofs to get to spot where he shot 8 rounds.
Billy Thoma of Butler PA in a FOX news report said there was a white van on his street* when he returned home from work around 5 pm. Later that evening, 5 or so cop cars swoop in, some cop opens the back door of van, the cops jump back. There were IEDs in it.
White van, Arizona plates. Parked that close to the rally. Close enough to walk to the rally site. Or ride a bike.
*Youtube video seems to suggest the street is near the rally site/hog farm. The street is Lawrence Ave.
Conflicting reports from CNN claim the Thomas Crooks drove his Hyundai Sonata where cops later found bombs in the trunk. They hauled it away on a flat bed. After de-activating the bombs?
Owner of both car and the van Crooks.?

(3,137 posts)People taking part in the ABC News report
Mike Priolo, sniper, Beaver county
Greg Nichol, Beaver County sniper. Greg the sniper. Snapped photos of the shooter shared via texts with snipers on shared chat of local law enforcement. Expected someone would see his pictures of shooter, and then find and confront the shooter, see what the kid was up to. Don't know what happened or was communicated with SS after he sent the pictures of the shooter.
Jason Woods, lead sharp shooter, Beaver Country sniper group, said the sniper team was suppose to meet with Secret Service when SS arrived at site. That meeting didn't happen. No direct communication link with SS.
Nate Bible, DA Beaver County
Pat Young, Beaver County Chief detective, said could not communicate with SS or PA State PO directly.
Rich Gianvito. Beaver county swat team. one of the first up on the roof. His police camera video footage shows him climbing the swat teams black ladder onto nearby roof, traverses several roofs to get to the spot where shooter's (Dead) body was.
