Cheato's not the only one who's floundering

The corporate media has no idea what to do with the Harris campaign or how to cover this new reality. This morning our friends at the NYT referred to Kamala's honeymoon winding down in a headline but cite no evidence of it actually winding down. However, if nothing else, the NYT has proven that they know how to set a narrative based on their own "vibes", so expect this to be the new one. The sugar high is going to fade away, and if it doesn't, they will do everything they can to make it happen.

Personally, I find it amusing to see them flailing and having to report positive news about the Dems before they inevitably start scolding them for being too confident.

I think they're going to have a fight on their hands if they try to "Hillary" Kamala. This isn't 2016 anymore.

I certainly thought that a couple of my papers (WaPo, NYT) had a slightly liberal slant since there were/are still some good journalists on their payrolls.

But after listening to EmptyWheel, DemocraticUnderground, and other sites, I realized that their primary interests lay in knee-capping liberal and Democratic ideas. Subtle headline writing and story placements. Constant drum-rolls and both-siderism.

I hope I have learned something this time, and I hope I won't be so stupid next time.

Newspapers and TV in totalitarian socialist states are even more fanatic in their biased slant because they don’t need to pretend, having no competition. Trump’s ideal media, if he returns to power, is something along the lines of Правда during the Soviet days, when it proudly declared on page 1 of every issue: Орган центрального комитета коммунистической партии Советского Союза. Organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Not a capitalist bone in their socialist bodies. Or so their state propaganda would have it, anyway.

so. With their continued bias, how can anyone trust the NYT? This is where these people who have bought out all of these newspapers think that they can manipulate Americans into thinking what the NYT deems 'important'.

Funny thing, the NYT is way off base, and doesn't know what the hell they're talking about IMHO. What do they have in their offices? A dartboard in their corporate headquarters where they randomly throw darts to select the topic of the day, and then run w/ it?

Idiots.

Yes virginia, they can manipulate the polls.

Its as easy as adjusting the expected turnout ratios on election day. That is entirely up to the designers of thenpolls, and even small changes can have have meaningful outcomes.

So if they just tweak the % of older white males up slightly, voila, kamala slips in the polls and the narrative is backed up.

Polls are garbage, they are toxic.

that dems better know what to do with this energy or lose or squander it. It feels a lot like mansplaining.

The things they both forget are, women remember the sting of winning the race in 2016 but not getting the title, & this campaign is only three months long. Trump's been on the national stage for almost a decade. Even people who don't hate him are sick of him! Harris is young, fresh, & she smiles! He never smiles unless it's a photo op. He's a sour, weird, old man.

We have the popular vote, no problem. We just need margins in the swing states to win in the courts.

I don't see a time between now and November when I will feel blasé about Kamala. Four years of Donny as President, a brief break, and then another year or two of him revving back up vs. 99 days of the joy of Kamala before the election--she still has a lot more to show us. OTOH, I was scolded recently here on DU for being too confident, so maybe that has begun here.

Actually pays reporters and newscasters a bonus every time they have a good story about pedo Trump or have a bad story about Dems. I just wonder if they get paid per story? Per overall count? A flat rate from pedo Trump campaign just to get favorably mentioned? If it's really mean to Dems or requires serious gaslighting do they get an extra special payment?

It is just so blatantly obvious that the corporate media never uses any real journalism on Trump. On Dems, oh sure, the meaner the more likely it will be amplified by Russian trolls and bots.

That's why once liberal news outlets like NYT, WaPo, MSNBC are worse than Fox, WSJ, New York Daily. Those once liberal sources had Dems believing the right wing propaganda ....at first. While most Dems can easily recognize right wing sources, it's the once left leaning sources that cause so much damage to Dems.
