General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsPeople, please do NOT post videos that AREN'T Harris campaign ads and say that they are.
We have an example of that at https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219258014 with more than 100 recs.
Please see my reply 25 there.
The video is from a Twitter account I'd never heard of, identified in the profile as a content creator in the UK.
Nice video, and it does give the link for Harris's website at the end, but it does NOT come from the campaign.
Please don't share videos like this and say they are campaign videos.

(17,802 posts)Maybe just don't represent them as "official" campaign videos.
Midas touch, the lincoln project, and several other channels have posted excellent ad like videos.
I absolutely want to see those.

(62,152 posts)ad, and it's from a UK group I've never heard of. They might mean well, but their videos should NOT be presented as from the campaign.

If its not an account one is following, or which is known
that place is a cesspool. I say that as someone who is still on it for the good thats still there, but definitely a landmine.

(62,152 posts)an official message or ad when it isn't.
The Twitter account didn't claim it was a video from the campaign. The DUer who posted it made a mistake, should have been more careful, and I hope that any DUers that posted it elsewhere as an official ad will correct those posts, or delete them if they can't correct them.
The group with that Twitter account and posting these videos SHOULD label them clearly, to avoid confusion.

(878 posts)They've posted a few, like, painfully obvious photoshopped photos and have presented them as real endorsements/posts.
Not trying to call them out or anything, and it very well could be a well-meaning poster who just isn't aware that they're fake. But
it's definitely a pattern.

Sigh. Asking flawed software that hallucinates for answers...

(878 posts)It's definitely interesting. Also, not really sure why you'd even need AI to do that.

People cheat talking about their own health?!

The AI companies have done an incredible amount of damage already.

(878 posts)I don't even know what to say to this. Of course, I imagine that Google is encouraging the use of AI because they want people to use Gemini. Same for Google's competitors.
But, my god.
Yes, let's encourage children to use as little of their own voice as possible and stunt the development of their communication skills. That won't result in a horrifying future at all.
The way companies are increasingly trying to shoehorn AI into every single thing humans do is truly tiresome not to mention a complete catastrophe for workers who will lose their jobs because "AI can do it." We're heading down a truly dystopian (I know that word is a bit overused these days, but it's quite accurate) road and all these corporations and tech firms do not give a single fuck. It's so depressing to watch.

(62,152 posts)are signs the venture capital money will start drying up. Plus there are all those lawsuits for theft of intellectual property. The companies are trying to get flawed, hallucinating AI used as widely as possible not only to generate income, but to be able to argue in court that their AI models are so important to society that their IP theft should be forgiven.

(2,216 posts)Some of these ads can be inspirational and fun, when properly attributed as 3rd party.
Otherwise, they may include clips, language, or messaging that the actual campaign would be careful to avoid (in this particular ad in question, even some here questioned why they'd show an old clip of VP Harris acting giddy that President Biden was no longer the nominee).
These are fun, but the official ads are better (more careful and precise; not to say they are not hard hitting, but careful in the sense that they avoid getting the wrong message across).

(62,152 posts)the video creator with that Truth Forward account linking to Democracy Forward's site. He has no connection to Democracy Forward. He's a Brit, and I believe his support of the Harris campaign is sincere, but he's just an individual content creator making his own ads, with his Twitter account linked to a Patreon account if people want to support him.
