All this is within the past few hours. And the evening news cycle hasnt started yet. This story has legs, so instead of cutting off the medias legs, lets encourage them to do it some more.

My partner is Black and texted me during work about this as it was so offensive and upsetting to him.
I'm so sick of Black Americans getting treated this way. Trump is total dog 💩

His whole campaign will be operating in full view of the dangers he poses to everyone.

(5,052 posts)He repeatedly did all these and he is still popular amongst republicans and some "independent". It didn't move the needle enough in 2016. He still gained more votes in 2020 comparing to 2016. We will have to see how it works in 2024 but he was supposed to be the front runner before a good man President Biden dropped out.
It's upon us to get out the vote to keep him from gainning office again because his base doesn't care one bit about his racism and all of the other BS childish plays he does. Matter of facts, they love it.

(15,910 posts)his handlers wouldn't have yanked him out after only 34 minutes.
MyOwnPeace
(17,435 posts)the 'handlers' should never have let him be there to begin with! The 'plan' was to sit back and throw stones at Joe - make fun of his difficulties based on his advanced age - and never let the press/media question IQ45 about the same.
BOOM! - In come Kamala!
NOW HE is the 'old man' - and he has to defend his own record, statements, and vision (HA! - I crack me up!!!! He has a 'vision?'). In this new arena - he has a new NATURAL ENEMY - his EGO!!!!!!!
And boy, did his 'natural enemy' just shoot him in the foot (well, at least it missed his ear!) in a most serious way!!!!

the coverage has diverted away from Democratic energy, record fund-raising efforts, etc.
Whatever else he is, Trump knows the media and has been rewarded in the past by the countrys short attention span.

(5,979 posts)Now the media focus will be what Trump said about Kamala. It puts him back in the news cycle and any talk about Harris will be on his terms. It might not last long, but the window is cracked open for him to dictate the terms of coverage. The media will chase the newest controversy, and he's finally managed to create one big enough to get noticed.

(12,011 posts)It's a win-win for him, IMO. It gets the spotlight back on him, which he prefers, it juices up his MAGA base, and it gets black voters, who weren't as strong for Harris in some of the recent polls as I would have expected, talking about whether she is "black enough". And it forces her to defend her blackness, which is probably not what she wants to be doing 3 months before the general election. Then he and his surrogates get to accuse her of playing identity politics.
Yes, the "not black enough" didn't work against Obama, but the idea of electing a black president was more novel in 2008 than it is now.
We underestimated Trump in 2016, betting that everyone would be so outraged by his racism, sexism, etc. that nobody would vote for him. We do so again at our peril. If people aren't turned off by the fact that he's been openly racist and sexist for years, was convicted of 34 felonies, and incited a violent insurrection, they are not going to be turned off by this.

(17,435 posts)It seems as if he is willing to 'assume' (and we know what THAT means - especially with THIS guy!) that he's got an 'immunity' and he can keep claiming 'he's got the votes - we don't need any more.'
Man, he needs to just keep on doin' what he's doin' - and we'll let that KAMALA train keep on rollin' - right over his head tied to the tracks by his own stupidity/ego!

(1,807 posts)he not ONLY looked weird today on stage but lost his shit and looked like the racist, old relic that he is. LOVE seeing a few people on here fretting that he "got what he wanted" and changed the narrative going forward. Pure, unadulterated BS folks. He's a racist, old fuck head plain and simple and moderate and indie voters were reminded of that today so stop trying to spin this as a negative for Dems or Kamala (it's not) or a positive for him (it's sure as HELL not)

(448 posts)Its outlandish behavior. Also not surprising.
Now, dont get mad at me here, but this is simply red meat for both sides. We all love pointing out hes a horrible person. The other side seems to love his behavior. Here in PA, I keep saying over and over and over - the goal must be to convince those tired of him and definitely not voting for him to vote for Kamala. I live in one of those mixed politically areas. Perhaps many of you live in very deep blue areas, so you dont see that issue.
I want to see a vote count so high for Kamala that it just silences his movement for good. The people around here are begging for a positive message. Fracking for or against? Its a big issue here. Im really hoping that we get a great positive convention, with tons of policies to tell people.
Around here, everyone knows hes bad. Theyre already not voting for him. I dont want them not voting. I want them to feel great about voting for Kamala.
Dont t hate me for just telling how it is from a swing area in a swing state.
Claustrum
(5,052 posts)The MSM loves this because it gets people watching and talking. But we've been through this over a thousand times and none of these hurts his support in his base. We all know how horrible a person TFG is. We dislike all of it and his base loves him more for it.
We don't win more votes for pointing out how horrible he is. He did this both in 2016 and 2020. His support grew. The only reason Biden won in 2020 was because we got more people voting for Biden. TFG didn't lose it because he said horrible things.
