Olympics -Women's 100 m -- Didn't make it home in time to watch live. What happened to Shelly Ann?

Just read on ESPN that security refused to let her in for the race??
Did the commentators mention that??
I saw the semis - and I figured Julien would give Sha'carri trouble. Julien looked really good in that race. Congrats to her and St.Lucia !

don't have the link saying she could not get into the practice track cause she didn't ride the team bus, makes no sense, she is 37 and it was her last chance.

The commentators mentioned it but didn't have the gate info,,so they just said they didn't know where she was ?

3. Thanks. That sucks. I wonder if she missed the bus and had to find her own transportation. Either way, it is

terrible she was not able to participate.
Not just for her, but the race itself. It kinda leaves a question mark for me when the fastest women to ever run, did not participate in this race.

Injured in training
Julien Alfred from St Lucia won from start to finish.
She became the 1st St Luciannto win a deal at the Olympics - gold to boot.
For the record St Lucia is the only Caribbean territory to have two Nobel Prize winners - William Arthur Lewis (January 23, 1915 – June 15, 1991) who won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1979; and Derek Walcott who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1992.

Tough lil island.

Ironically Dominica also won her first medal, also gold in the Women’s Triple Jump- Thea LaFond.. Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts
took the silver and bronze went to American Jasmine Moore.

4. Thanks. Is that from her officially? So many reports online are saying she missed the team bus and could not get in

which makes no sense. So weird to not have any of the big 3 from last olympics in this final.

6. Heard that on local TV but have since also seen reports about problems with security at warm up track.

Found this
It remains unclear as to why Fraser-Pryce, a five-time Olympian, suddenly pulled out of the race. In videos posted to social media about two hours before the race, Fraser-Pryce and Richardson were both seen having trouble getting past security as they tried reaching the warmup track just outside the stadium.

Very interesting - will get the official story and fill you in.

5. It's sort of both. Formally, she didn't start and that equals "withdrew."

But she didn't start because of a rule change concerning access to the location.
