Former Pence advisor wants him to endorse Harris

The Harris campaign launched "Republicans for Harris" Sunday, an outreach effort to Republicans breaking with the former president. Former Trump-Pence national security official and member of Republicans for Harris Oliva Troye joined MSNBC's Alex Witt to discuss what Troye hopes could come out of the new campaign.

1. In a way I appreciate the possibility of picking up republican voters for Harris.

But that doesn’t mean they won’t vote republican down ticket. Or use those credentials later to try to sway voters away from Democrat candidates now or later.

I wouldn’t doubt if next year their videos will be filled with recommendations for republicans.

2. A very good interview! It's breathtaking to hear Republicans talk the way she is in this interview.

I admire her willingness to oppose TFG as dangerous to our country.

I hope she'll get many true Republicans (not MAGA!) to come over and vote for Kamala.

4. Nobody cares who Pence endorses. He would not likely endorse a pro-choice candidate no matter what

5. I think his endorsement might move "gettable" Republicans...

....no, not the MAGA crowd. They are immovable cultists. But the swing voters who voted twice for Obama, then voted for Trump, then voted for Biden, Pence might impact them. If he did it at the DNC that would be amazing, but if he waits until after Labor Day that might be even better with a bigger impact. I am hoping for a Harris blow out, but in the event it is a close election, every vote will count and this could have an impact.
