If you’re implying, everything is fine and we shouldn’t be worried about the state of the union, well then… I would suggest that now is the time to be worried, concerned, about calamity and catastrophe happening to our nation.
I for one am very worried, and have anxiety about the election and aftermath.

It is on my radar as a potential problem that might materialize or might not. There is a middle ground view between freak out and the bury your head in the sand approach the OP advocates for. The way I see this race is that it is now Harris’ to lose. The media getting a hold of a nice horse race bone like a slowing economy is more of a concern to me than the actual economic fundamentals themselves.

It's advocating against pointless doomsaying, which is, without a doubt, a problem on DU. We manufacture things to obsess over that have quite literally zero chance of ever happening and then we beat them to death.

Seemed more like ridiculing, the post lacked content, subject, or a point.
Left for each of us to interpret differently.

“ We manufacture things to obsess over that have quite literally zero chance of ever happening and then we beat them to death.”

There was a coup attempt after the last election, they are now more organized and are promising another coup, perhaps a bloodbath.
Nothing “manufactured” about it, also has a far higher chance of happening than zero because it ALREADY happened.

and incessant speculation and consternation about things that have no chance of happening.

Example: there have been dozens of posts claiming that the states are going to change the way they apportion electoral votes after the election to assist Trump.

Reality: they can't.

https://www.archives.gov/electoral-college/allocation

That doesn't stop people from continuing to argue and fret over an impossibility.

That's just one example, but we here at DU are well adept at manufacturing things to obsess over that have little or no chance of ever happening. That's the kind of stuff the OP is talking about.

There's no point to it, as all it does is demotivate and demoralize people, when we have an election to win.

The post is making fun of the fascist NYT for claiming that Democrats debating their VP choices is a sign of chaos and disarray in the party that will prove so disruptive that it will cause them to lose the election.

A little levity about such ridiculous blathering and blatant dishonesty is a good thing.

Shiller P/E is 33, which is double the historical average, and 50% higher than the modern average.

This is a measure of the overall stock valuation of S&P 500 companies relative to their earnings. The higher the ratio, the more their overall stock prices are relative to their earnings.

A correction is long overdue, the timing however is awful.

... while he lost the popular vote by over 3 million votes. He "won" by a thin margin of a football stadium size in 3 battleground states because of many cheats and factors including Comey, Stein, David Pecker's front page lies and Putin's troll farm, AND because the fake-news medias gave him 24/7 free coverage of his constant divisive and hateful rhetoric.

The adjudicated rapist lost the EC by a wide margin after literally 'killing' hundreds of thousands COVID patients who did not have to die when compared to other democratic nations, due to his abject criminal negligence for political and financial gains. The loser lost the popular vote by over 7 million votes.

Now, after launching a violent insurrection against the United States congress and still lying to this day about his losses, and after bragging about his overturn of Roe v Wade, and selecting a hillbilly misogynist for VP, hundreds of thousands of young women who never thought of voting before rush to register to vote for Kamala and Democratic politicians on their ballot in the hopes this assault on their reproductive freedoms will be corrected and they get restored into federal law.

Pollsters are not polling them correctly like they didn't poll the failing "red wave" in 2022: They did not "learn their lessons" from their wrong methods.

Just keep working hard to GOTV and everything will be fine. The weirdos will lose.

The current WS correction is normal. Happens after most unrealistic BUBBLES.

As if the shadowy Wall Street Masters of the Universe saw polls Kamala Harris's up a few points and immediately freak out that Trump won't be president to screw up the economy again and bring instability and chaos. Implement the Operation Stock Market Panic alert plan immediately!

Saw one that the long-term right-wing plan is for no immigration or social safety net or education so that the only workforce available is poor uneducated non-skilled unhealthy angry armed Americans who'll be so desperate it's assumed they'll take any job for peanuts and be grateful for it.

What jobs? Going to bring manufacturing back to the U.S. and get rid of automation? Lose a lot of money because of high turn-over and having to train new employees all the time? A population with no money to buy products? Without trade deals they can't sell American products abroad or import cheaper foreign things. That doesn't make sense, what kind of economy would that be. No, if it's about the rich making money the old-fashioned Republican free trade and pro-immigration worked really well, they weren't ideological extremists with crazy fantasies.
