US targets surging grocery prices in latest probe

The FTC has played a major role in the Biden administration's efforts to cut costs for U.S. households, targeting high prices and junk fees on products and services ranging from airfare to credit cards.
Billionaire Democratic donors, some affiliated with businesses the FTC has sued, have urged Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, to replace Khan if elected.

Got really pissed off when I went shopping yesterday at a second rate "discount" grocery store and saw the prices.

This is a make or break issue for this election, and rapid determination and action must be taken, not endless hemming and hawing and foot dragging.

Not surprised that billionaire donors are unhappy when someone finally says "enough".

Last week, a rather loud buddy of mine was walking out of the local grocery chain and just shouted at the top of his lungs ... "STOP raising your goddamned prices, you thieves!"

A round of applause rose from the usually quiet shoppers leaning on their carts.
It was priceless.

That the Biden/Harris administration sees this shit and is actively going after it.

There is only upside to highlighting it. After seeing the article, I was surprised it didn't seem to gain traction anywhere. Glad to see it here.

So...

I have seen the price creep and we just so happen to have been there within the last 5 days.

What was 5.99 15 years ago, is now 12.99, same item.

I saw 3.59 for gas recently, when I moved here 21 years ago, it was 1.71 and that was 40 cents a gallon higher than where I moved from, east coast to west.

Did incomes go up that much?

Thus the problems.

Punish them with your purses. Live like most of our parents did for even a month.

This is an issue we can win on and I'd like to see Harris talk about what the Biden administration has done to address it and what a Harris Administration would do if elected.

The fact that mainstream media won't touch "the wealthy are fleecing the working class" with a ten foot pole, and considering that RW Hate Radio has convinced millions of complete nonsense, the average American somehow thinks that General Mills had to raise prices 20% across the board(after posting their largest profit ever) because we sent missiles to Ukraine or because the Feds allocated grant money for "green" projects throughout the States. There has to be direct pushback against that narrative, which has been completely lacking. It leads people like me to conclude that nobody, even Democrats like Joe, aren't going to call out the wealthy entitled class as the main problem in America.
