I guess msm has just given up pushing back on this slur whatsoever.
Im just venting, it does get to me when they get away with renaming our party and slurring it intentionally and never get checked on it.
I know theres so many other things, but Ill never not correct someone in person that calls us the democrat party. Were the Democratic Party. Thank you very much - youre a clown and I have no respect for you

(270 posts)Throughout this time, McCarthy - in an eerie prescience suggesting today's Qanon conspiracy theories about
Democrats drinking children's blood - argued that the central nexus of the
"homosexual agenda" as well as the
"communist sympathizers" was the
"Democrat Party."
Throughout his hearings, carried on live television every day for almost two months, McCarthy refused to use the actual name of the party and its members he was slandering.
Instead, he argued, "Democratic" sounded too nice, too, well, democratic. McCarthy is sometimes quoted (it may be apocryphal) as saying, in Newt Gingrich Word List fashion, that Republicans should just say, "Democrat Party, with the emphasis on the 'rat'!"

(77,795 posts)piled up a list of focus "tested" words with the favorable or unfavorable reactions they elicited, and that was the main unfavorable one. It grates because it has an ungrammatical edge, using a noun as an adjective. The grinchites hopped to goose step all of the list, the "good" ones for themselves, "bad" for us. It's a rhetorical, propaganda technique. I hadn't heard of the despicable McCARTHY connection but don't doubt it.

Between being on an award-winning high school paper and college journalism, I was fully trained to write news copy at a radio station. I never went into the business, but it would be hell having to do that and call it your work! Stupid son of a bitch took a job where he's not even allowed to do a good job! LOL

(4,635 posts)But my point has been it really makes those dimwads seem dimmer. It makes them sound like Archie Bunker. It makes them sound like they left school in the fifth grade. It makes them sound like the mob that wanted to lynch Tom Robinson in the Maycomb courthouse jail. It makes them sound like Strom Thurmond if Strom Thurmond was alive today. It makes them sound like they hunt out of season. It makes them sound like welfare frauds. Ok, I'll stop.

(1,611 posts)It's so stupid. "Oooo...you're so clever & edgy."
Another dumbazz one is "libtard." First, you don't say the "r" word or try to incorporate some variation thereof into a word or phrase. 2nd, "liberal" and the "r" word have nothing to do with one another. I get it, they're putting them together to show disdain. But it doesn't fit. Its moronic. "Rightard" would at least make sense. Again, you don't say stuff like that. But at least those two sort of go together.

(28,705 posts)Calling us the Democrat Party is not only an insult, it meant to be insulting.
A few years ago, Lawrence O'Donnell said Democrat Party while doing his show. I sent him a Tweet that night explaining the insult.
The next evening during his show, and with the biggest smile on his face, Lawrence said the Democratic Party. I Tweeted him back with a nice Thank You!
Anyway, Social Dem, thank you for posting.

(296,886 posts)It is their responsibility to correct these assholes. Guests from the Democratic Party should also call them on it and walk off the effin set iwhen it is repeated. Likewise every time an elected ReTHUG says it in a legislature , an objection should be raised. It has always been an attempt to delegitimize the Democratic Party.
Dems should also call them weird - how hard is it to remember the name of the Democratic Party.
